Davidson wins pretty easily at this meet

Wow they have improved so much since the beginning of the season. Only 1 senior as well

NW has Toledo area teams St. Francis, Perrysburg, Anthony Wayne, Bowling Green, Lexington, Northview (with 2 of those moving to state).

Ilg is on the NE side.

Is it weird they weren't at the MMOC?

Also... they've gotten better, yes, but still quite a ways behind the ranked squads in Central OH right now.

Ah I'm dumb. Got my west and east confused. I guess I thought Anthony Wayne was in the Boardman region. I'll make that my reason for getting E and W flipped....

So is it Long, Clark, and Cope in that region? 1-2-3? Or is someone else emerging?

Those 3 have the most potential to make a splash at State. Looks like Cope hasn’t raced much until recently so some work needs to be done in that regard.

That being said, the defending regional champion returns (Noah Williams of Shawnee-15:40; but hasn’t look stellar in his year).

Outside of that, Arquette of St. Francis was within 10 seconds of Long in their most recent matchup as well as 10 seconds of Clark this past weekend).

Is Gabelman avoiding the WN late season slide others have mentioned? Or is he just so good that it doesn’t matter if he peaks early?

North has literally lost one meet this entire year with most of their top 5 pr’ing every meet except for this one and yet “they’re starting to slide.”? It’s such an unfair statement to say that north is falling because their runners didn’t do so well but when a team like kilbournes runners don’t do as well as they’ve been, it’s just them “looking out of rhythm”. That just a hating mentality.

I see your point, but it has been a pattern in the last year or two.

At last year's Pickerington North Inv, Westerville North looked incredible. A WV team won (remember the tread?), and then North had 146pts to get 2nd. They crushed Coffman, Gahanna, Kilbourne, Jerome, Olentangy, Pick North, and Scioto, among many others.

They were equally strong at their own invite last year, winning and again easily beating WK, DeSales, Olentangy, and Scioto.

And then they slid. Kilbourne beat them at OCCs (yes it was close), and then at regionals the wheels came off. They were 9th in the region... behind nearly all of those teams they beat at the beginning of the year, except maybe DeSales and Olentangy. It was a noticeable difference.

A similar thing happened in 2021, but more with individuals as the team wasn't quite as strong. Look at those same meets... Pick N and Westerville N vs Regionals.

So it's a fair assessment. Though maybe this year it'll be different, since those runners who've slipped in recent years are now upperclassmen. Time will tell. But Coffman did just put the hurt on them. I'd probably chalk that up to Coffman having a superior race as much as it would be North falling though - Coffman did equal damage to Kilbourne and Orange.

Trust me, I’m a North supporter so I don’t want to see them slide. But the Coffman beat down they just took made me think what everyone says is true and history is repeating

I think North will be fine. Coffman just put together a great race. As the other guy said, they wrecked Kilbourne and Orange too. And last week Kilbourne nearly beat them at Lancaster.

So after this weekend what do we know about the top D1 teams at this point in the season and project from a month from now at state?!

The confusion begins when teams from the west of Cleveland get thrown into the Toledo/NW Ohio region. Amherst Steele may be in that region this year. And Medina?

Agreed those teams should be in Northwest Region (as they are in track and field @ Amherst for instance -or how it use to be before 2014 season at Tiffin). Perhaps next fall with alignment but this year those 2 mentioned stay in Lorain District and filter to Boardman.

I could see Steele going into the NW but definitely not Medina.
