2.) The guys who did race last year got caught in the pileup.
Its kinda sus when the vast majority of PP and CMS's prs or season bests come from that one race, in September.

Osmulski's 24:45 was for 3rd this year, so it's easy to say this, but Dhruvil's time was for the Win last year (not to mention Norvell for 2nd). Comparing these two teams is a lot more difficult, especially when their 5th man used to be on the team, wasn't on the roster at all last year, and then is back. How much can Pommier really be trusted when it comes to an important race? Lots of variables this year that other teams can take advantage of.
The one thing NCC has over the entire field is experience. No body at the top has been in a position like this before. (Wartburg, Carleton, CMS, CMU come to mind). Yes, they've found themselves at the podium level before, but to be in a position like this where a title is certainly within reach, there's a lot these teams have never done before.
To counter that, it's clear that NCC doesn't have the man power in experience as they did last year, but you have a dynasty of a program and it's easy to buy into it if your head is in the right spot.
It's not set in stone until November 23rd. Don't count your chickens until they've hatched.
Its looking like if someone doesn't string it out or take it early, everyone's gonna be in the conversation for the individual title this year

Team wise, Moravian coming from not ranked in the region to beat Etown is surprising. Both Dickinson teams looking strong too

Seems like this was probably a 3 Mile Women/4 Mile Men race. Lots of junior colleges and they had a 4 mile race on this course at the same meet last year. Not really sure why CMS ran there, but definitely makes you lose some faith in their ranking from last week's "8k".
CMS shaping up to be one of the most interesting teams of the year. Let's be real, even a West region team isn't slow enough to run 24+ minutes with their top guys on a 4 mile course. Unless???
Still, if these times are real, they will make a big showing at nationals. If they are not, they will flop. Either way, CMS will be exciting to watch this year.
Something to note, Concordia, the team that placed second with an average of 25:12 at that race, averaged 27:08 2 weeks ago. Doesn't mean much in terms of analysis because who knows what they were up to in terms of race plans, but take the times with a grain of salt until CMS starts facing better competition, which we won't see outside of PP until nationals basically.
CMS ran great on a short course today. Sets them up perfectly to do the same thing at nationals.
