Half marathon breakthrough is not indicative of a great time in the marathon. If that was the case, Zersenay Tadese would be running 2:01 in the mary. True Kiptum ran 2:05 last year but at the time his half best was not fast. He probably might run 2:07.
Btw, if this guy ran a world record, what will the likes of Eric Kiptanui, Geoffrey Kamworor run? 57 mins? It is a well know secret that Kamworor is way better than all these guys but A LOT. I wish next year was a low key year but we have World Cross country and Iaaf world championships and the following year is the world half marathon championships and the Olympics followed in 2021 by World cross country and world championships in athletics. So we may have to wait until 2022 to get Kamworor attempt the half marathon world record . Unless Kamworor decides to go for that record in 2019 September/October after the world championships or if he skips the championships.

We'll wait and see. I suspect Adola withdrew from Frankfurt as he was handed a big appearance fee from Abu Dhabi. The time span between the announcement of the Abu Dhabi marathon and his withdrawal was rather short.
Also, i'm sure many guys will come to Abu Dhabi even though they already ran a fall marathon given the huge prize money, $100,000 1st place and a $100,000 bonus for an UAE all-comers record(2:04:00-Geremew-Dubai).
With $200,000 on the line + big appearance fees i think the elite field will have a depth similar to what we saw in Copenhagen Half. I expect around 30 elites with sub 2:10 bests and at least 7-10 with under 2:06.
I wonder what they would pay for a new record, maybe a $1,000,000 bonus.
Their primary sponsor the ADOC ( Abu Dhabi National Oil Company ) has a revenue of 68 billion dollars per year lol.

Yes...just look at the blazing times that historically have come out of that country; sub-13, sub-27 & sub-2:06 runners that come a dime a dozen. No one other than their neighbors to the North can keep up with them. Running at hypersonic speeds in Kenyan isn't the only thing...it's everything!

The trajectory of Farah is not believable, although there is the possibility that Mo was not a very strong responder to heavy doping and the advances in testing brought everyone back to him, so to speak.
