Thank you all SO MUCH for the happy birthday wishes. I am just getting to read them now because I spent my birthday hiking and diving into nature at Crater Lake without access to internet.
I have to admit, as I went through each post I thought about the memories that we all shared, got choked up a bit in the office (Celine Dion's Because You Loved Me came on Pandora, which did not help the waterworks), and I am now just overwhelmed with gratitude for the relationships built with each of you.
Thats why I want to share that I am at a pivotal point in my life, as I am no longer going to be coaching at NAU as of August 15th. As many of you know, I cut my running career short junior year at Penn State due to chronic pneumonia and many other ailments. Since my plan 'A' of running was no longer an option, I decided to coach and had my first opportunity to do so with the Lodi Flames at Lodi High School :). From Cali I moved to Syracuse and then onto NAU. Moving to Flagstaff helped me grow up. I learned that as much as I want life to be an endless dance party, I also need to work on something more important than my tan and beer pong skills. Earning a Masters Degree at NAU while coaching taught me how to work, then work harder, and finish what I started. It also brought about every type of amazing, hilarious, awe-inspiring, heart-breaking, physically, emotionally and mentally challenging situation that I could endure. Instead of hiding and resorting back to my college tendencies, I had to face life and grow up. And I did, but its a never ending process.
What I am happy to say is that ultimately, this magic mountain and its supportive community have helped me to get healthy enough to run again. So, I am going to steer back on the path that I had set back in high school and pursue a running career. Maybe in four years it will lead to something great. But no matter where it leads, I know its going to be wild ride. Yeehaw!
Any truth to this rumor? Is Croghan really gone from Kent? Can anyone confirm?
I feel like this was posted a few years back but turned out to be a lie.

Just when did Wims ever qualify for the Olympic Trials, or the Pan Am Games? There were no Pan Ams in 2005, and no record of him having a Trials qualifying mark at any point.
What a terrible pile of BS on that profile. He's never even been close to the times to even make the NCAA championships or score in the SEC, much less Olympic Trials or Pan Am Games. Looks like he has a best of 10.41 and 21.24. Complete fraud!

An Arthur Wims of Fort Wayne, IN was on the 2007 Pan Am junior team in both 100 + 200 meters. Hope this helps.

Croghan out at Kent State?
I am not sure how I can be more clear than I already have been. Croghan is out at Kent State. This is not a rumor. Just because there isn't a link to an article doesn't mean that I'm lying. Sorry that you don't have a way to confirm but you will eventually see that I am right.
There is no way Lawson would fire Croghan.
Not saying Croghan has done a great job, but it is Kent State. Croghan has a job for life if he wants it!
The Croghan rumor is not true. Even his runners don't know about it. There would be an article somewhere if it was and his athletes would know.

Women are in high demand so they can come and go as they please. Not mad at her if it's a better fit for her it is what it is I would do the same thing. Good luck in NY. I heard they will provide housing for the staff there but it's still not cheap

For positions like this is it better to be a male applicant with experience or a female applicant with no experience? I applied for this job but knew the whole time it would go to a female. Call me butthurt or w/ever but i think im just saying it how it is.
This topic has already been brought up on this thread but I can't help but bring it up again. I'm all for equality for women but is this really equality? Giving women advantages over men in getting jobs?
