I lived in Pullman and watched Lagat compete at WSU frequently (146 800s all alone...)The guy is supremely talented. If Centro, Willis and other white guys can hit 330 or 329 clean, Lagats 326 was legit. And if the guy is that talented, closing in :52 high off 1330+ pace is a walk in the park....

Honestly, I don't know if he doped, but Torrence likely doesn't know any better than the rest of us. All he did was talk about rumors he's heard...rumors that are not insider since it's commonly talked about on Letsrun. With that said, I have a hard time believing Lagat is doping now, whether he did or didn't in the past, given what he could lose if he tested positive. And remember, he ran 3:27 like 11 or 12 years ago. He likely could have run 12:45 at some point. It's not like he hasn't slowed down, given that he could probably only run 13:10-13:20 right now. This race was basically set up for him to win. He can kick like a mad man off a mild pace. In an all out race, he would have finished like 5th or lower today. If the Olympics play out this way, he will contend for a medal because he has a lethal kick when the pace is mid to high 13 pace.
