Not sure how we can count Mary's 4:04, but not Alexa's 4:03. Alexa has run for the same coach since 8th grade. Mary was running for Alberto Salazar.

Looks like a pb for Andrew Butchart who runs for Central AC in Scotland. Seems odd they listed him McColgan and Potter as 'unattached'.

pb for Elish McColgan (Liz McColgan's daughter) in the 5000 too I think.
Can't wait to see Lagat join Meb in representing the U.S. in Rio! Awesome to see these guys breaking new ground.
[quote[Did Andy Vernon fly from the UK just to DNF? lol[/quote]
He was the designated pace setter, but Stephen Sambu usurped the position.
A nice meet for the State of Washington:
Yorks wins 1500m in a controlled 3:37
Tebo returns from the shadows to win in 15:31
Maxwell runs 4:12 for a big PR and 2nd fastest NCAA time this year
Huxman wins Sect 4 by 5sec with a sub-14 PR
Mires takes a 2sec PR to run 4:19
Felnagle? hmm...
Vernon was pacing. Lots of great stories. Pierce Murphy doesn't run like he could have, great runs for futsum and Lagat, couple of recently turned professionals run poor, like jason witt.

Fisher turned 19 ten days ago, so he has the rest of the season to improve his junior list standing.

Good for #6 on the all time US Junior list. Just ahead of Steve P.
Time wise, Grant Fisher would have finished in front of Chris Derrick.
He ran in last place most of the race probably because it was his first 5km race on the track. His last 800 was as fast as the top guys in his heat. A great sign that he is gaining strength given his relative newness to running.(meaning he has only been focussing on running for three years (soccer background).
Would imagine speed training is around the corner in May. His 1500 will be great when it counts in June.

Let's also remember that Futsum is an American citizen. Good for him to pick up the Olympic standard.
I used to see Futsum run on the monon trail quite regularly when he was till a HS athlete. Nice to see him in the mix with the pros.
I don't think pre-season or the Combine are great analogies. These marks still count! Pre-season doesn't. Combine is not even football.I kinda think of it as April baseball games. Early season games, all stats count but it is a very long season with many games left to play. Hot players go cold, others emerge as the season wears on.

(ex: Stanford true soph runs 2:01!!?!). But if the voice of the sport is going to brush these races aside it's a good show of where the sport stands at.
The top guys (and gals) are at Stanford?
Kiprop, Kemboi, Centro, Rupp, what events are they in?
Rowbury, Simpson, Martinez, Dibaba what about them?
NFL combine is a decent analogy but there are a lot of "B" level post collegians so it's not perfect.

Finn's 31:51 is a 50 second PB.
Although she competed unattached, since she is still in school and the race is during the collegiate season, this could make her #6 collegian and #3 American collegian all time.
Thought that was a PB for her.

This race was awesome, going in it appeared the NCAA athletes would put on a show. At the end of the day, the older chicks showed them who is in charge! Olivia Baker ran an NCAA leading time, with Alexa Efraimson battling to be the fastest athlete at an NCAA school! Williams looks like she will be a contender this year for sure!
What event did Alexa Efraimson run in?
+1, what happened to kim smith?
felnagle looked terrible
Near-PR 2:01 in the 8. Katie Mackey just ahead of her. Those two trade off against each other a lot lately.

From the times kim was running just before she dropped out, she appeared to be with the main bunch and heading towards an olympic qualifying time.
http://www.rtspt.com/events/stanford/pjc16/160501F068.htmInjury perhaps?
Hope she recovers quickly.
Splits are all wrong . Vessey led up to 20 meters to go then faded to third. Vessey 57, Williams 58 and Baker 58 at 400m. It was a very exciting race. Big PR's for Williams and Baker and season best for Vessey. Flotrack commentary was very enthusiastic!
Not the way circadian rhythms work
Just read the WTW about Sarah Lahti. While agree that it is crazy they didn't put her in the first heat, why on earth is the Swedish Olympic standard faster than their national record?? That just seems too prohibitive. It is almost like they don't want athletes to represent their country at the games.

This should read the All-time (Div I) college list.I can see a Div II athlete that would be up there after Eyestone.

Nordas running 3:34 with one shoe is proof that supershoes don’t work
American men regularly now run sub 13 5k and sun 27 10k but marathons stuck at 2:07. What gives?
