Is there really anyone who is a "real" american? Aren't you all a mix of different european country's genetics?

Oh sure. You mean like Kristi Yamaguchi, right?

Hey, I've got nothing against Lagat. Seems like a good guy, and is a great competitor. However, are you saying beating all the kenyans today means he's still better? Last I looked all the Kenyans beat Lagat when it mattered this year. You know that little thing a few weeks ago. Remember that?
Good race by Bernard today, but he not prove anything over his former countrymen by beating them a month after the fact.
Sure, Lagat has had a much better career and is a greater runner over the scope of his career. But this year. Nope. He was the best American. That's all.
Being the best American is exactly what the argument was about dumbie

I posted this in another thread on Jager but did anyone else notice Rupp looking over his shoulder with just less than 300 to go. At the time i was thinking he was looking over his shoulder to see if Jager was nearby but now I don't know what to think as it was his inside shoulder:
Pic here:

Was he trying to watch the triple jump?
Lagat- 1st 2nd 2nd 4th up until London in the 5000m. Yeah definitely would have had a hard time qualifying in Kenya.
Also ttc has always been known as a troll. He thinks Dathan was closing on Bekele in his AR race.

The main reason for Lagat's success is his Kenyan genetics- which are a huge head start.
As opposed to the huge head starts of Jim Ryun, Alan Webb and Galen Rupp?
They're all off the charts talented.

Of course he's more American than Sharapova because you know...he's an America citizen and she's not...
Exactly my point. BL came to this country, benefited from our system, then became a citizen and represents our country. MS has lived basically her whole life here, enjoyed all the benefits, and gives the country that provided those benefits no credit.
Next time think before you fire away.

Ritz said in the post-race interview, Bekele was coming back.
So is Ritz wrong too?

Never said a non-East Affican can't succeed. But at a genetic disadvantage, as shown by all-time lists.
You're right, he was beaten by all 3 in the WC .. but that's the only race all year, and last year IIRC, where he was beaten by 3 Kenyans .. even the OG he'd have been on their team, given the results in London.
And given the results throughout most of this year, he'd also have been on their wc team this year.
More importantly, he gained US citizenship 10 years ago ... not this year.
What the heck happened to Heath? He was leading and on pace t o run sub-13, then DNFs? The guy could be right there with the main US players if he could get his mind right.

All the other Kenyans and Ethiopians are at a genetic disadvantage compared to those guys. Jacob Korir has lifetime bests of 3:44, 13:29, 28:04 and at his best would struggle to make a US team.
My point is change Galen Rupp to Galen Rop with personal bests of 3:50, 12:58 and 26:48 and an Olympic silver medal, and you would say, "he's got a genetic advantage." If you run those times, you have a different physiology from most humans, no matter your heritage.
What separates a few groups of Kenyans and Ethiopians from everywhere else on the planet is the frequency of those very special people is far higher than anywhere else in the world.

Jager was the only American in the field who impressed, although I do admire that Rupp tried to push from 600 out.
So Rupp is up front throughout. Takes the lead 600 out, beats Jager and you are more impressed by Jager than Rupp??
Wow.

Rojo,
Definition of "Impress" = Influence in opinion. Jager's race influenced our opinions (impressed us) the most.

And the top 25 footballers in the world are all Europeans and South Americans. Maybe they have a genetic advantage over the North Americans? Oh wait...

No it didn't. He's run an 8:06 steeple AR a year ago followed by another year of improvement. 13:02 shouldn't be that shocking with those credentials. Much more impressive to see Rupp fighting for the W in the final laps after struggling to do so in the other 5,000's this year.

Yea.... We all figured Jager would finish only 1 second behind Rupp.
