A friend of mine named Frank asked my advice on improving his 5k time. So I told him.

It's a stupid name, but it's kind of a divided homage between the movie "The Thing from Outer Space" and the Monty Python sketch about the Society for Putting Things on Top of Other Things

What I wear when I run. It was a registered name spelled with an "s" at the end, so I spell mine with a Z.

I ran 30:45 at the Mid-Atlantic X-C Regionals on Lehigh's 10K X-C Course in 1978 (and 30:56 in 1979 NCAA Finals for 97th on same course). With the 30:45, I individually qualified for '78 NCAA Finals. My PR on the track is only 30:49 so that is why I named myself ---after my bext X-C Race.
