Nothing to do with the heat. It is tough for Stanford guys who are told that Payton Jordan means something. Legs are fried and Derrick has zero chance of being an Olympian this year. Good for guys like Ritz.

Derrick screwed over quite a bit by the heat. The drawback of Palo Alto vs. Arizona/Utah.
Cedar City, Utah, is higher than Boulder and is actually cooler than Palo Alto all but 3 or 4 months of the year (the summer months, naturally). During winter and spring it's warmer in Palo Alto. So....no excuse there for Derrick. Plus it was low 70s and only 50% humidity in Des Moines tonight which isn't too terribly bad.
NCCA Titles:
Derrick: ZERO
Rupp: 6
For everyone shitting on Derrick, yes he didn't have a great race but it doesn't mean he is "done" as all the tools on letsrun say. Here's what he said right after the race http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/248567-2012-NCAA-D1-Outdoor-Track-Field-Championships/video/640118-Chris-Derrick-3rd-in-his-final-collegiate-race-2012-NCAA-Outdoor-Champs
You do know Derrick has a broken foot?
I never said he was done. I said that he has no chance of making the Olympic team this yea. I think he has a great future. But he was too hot a couple months back to maintain in through the trials. I said it then and I am repeating it now.
