Anyone ever consider the gesture wasn't directed at the other runners, but the media and message boarders who have ripped on him since he graduated high school?

Who cares about his throat slit? He shouldn't be DQ'd for doing it.

He should be DQ'd for doing it after winning in 3:42.5.

But seriously, we should train our fans to throw rotten food at CHAMPIONship fields that go out in 66.

Watch the 800. Out in 49 + change = balls.

Winning in 1:44.7 = worthy of a throat slit.

Winning 2 seconds off the AR = worthy of a throat slit.

Winning 13 seconds off the AR = be gracious, get your medal come back next year and lead a field that doesn't run like a bunch of...

Congrats Centrowitz, great race and accomplishment. Do what you want to do, you earned it! It's elementary compared to what a player does in the NBA after making a shot or what a player does in the NFL after making a tackle and these are plays that happen quite often! It's taunting. If you look back and point at someone before you cross the line that would likely get a DQ at the NCAA level.

I don't think Ulrey would have wanted to become NCAA Champion through a DQ that didn't effect the race, though.

I am surprised this thread is still going. GOOD LORD. This poster pretty much says it all. Centro was not celebrating or promoting murder for God's sake. A pretty simple celebration saying, 'it's over'.

Nowhere on earth is a THROAT SLITTING gesture a signal that "it's done."

EVERYWHERE, it is a signal for death.

In the case of Centro, it is a case of a nerdy distance runner trying to look badass and instead just looking like he has embarrassingly bad judgment for a college grad.

Although Alfred Yego did it on worldwide TV at the WC 800. Much more badass, though, since he put something on the line and did it during intros BEFORE the race...and then backed it up.

I was watching the NCAA replay on CBS Sports net last night. Tabarie Henry did the exact same gesture, right into the camera, after A&M won the 4X400. To all of you making a big deal about this I am taking my right hand up to neck height and pulling it quickly across my body from left to right and saying "ENOUGH"!

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing about horse racing, they need to let the horses celebrate more!!! Especially during triple crown races. Not saying they should allow horses to do the throat slit gesture (kind of impossible to bend the leg and hoof the right way), but maybe they could fling their jockey off right at the finish line and stomp on them, or try and do "the Lambeau Leep" into the stands.
