Rupp looked ridiculous.
I can't believe anyone would justify this by saying "it's 35 degrees out." Real athletes--nordic skiers for example--would consider going topless in that weather.
But we all know the true reason is that rupp is a total gear/treatments/attention freak. Might as well start doing triathlons.
The new Enquirer has a short piece (sadly w/o photos) explaining how Kara forgot to pack her jog bra in with all the little tike's diapers, bottles, toys, etc. So Alberto saved the day by fabricating a replacement using two of the now-legendary Rupp face masks, fusing them together with special black Nike duct tape. It's still unclear whether any breathe right strips were involved, or whether Al fitted the bra himself or let Adam do it. This is clearly a huge story that needs some elaboration and speculation. Such as, if Rupp had had only had one extra mask, would Salazar have confiscated it so as to be able to cobble together Kara's bra. Or would Kara have just utilized one mask? And what would that have meant both during and after the race?

There is no possible chance he could run the time he did if his respiratory system was heavily impeded. If true, then Rupp will give the major half-marathon WR a major spanking very soon.
I've had a pretty bad cough before from running indoors. I wasn't sick, it was just kind of annoying. It didn't affect me while I was running. I'm thinking that's kind of what Galen had. There's no reason to believe he was lying about it, or exaggerating. Just take him at his word. I usually run pretty well despite a nagging cough.

I suspect that Rupp might have been feeling the effects of allergens back in Oregon. The problem with that theory is that the spring bloom in New York is about a month later than in Oregon.

I would not call it that, Alberto has a long history of embracing the new...checking it out, seeing if it helps.

Alberto is a totally conservative guy in his personal life, for him to be a progressive in athletic training and performance...to me makes him a more courageous personality.
He doesn't care what you think, whether he looks silly while being an innovator...he cares about results. He tracks results. And when he finds things that help - through data - through results - they become part of his tool kit.
He is in this way -- the Oregon runner Most Like Bowerman.
Yeah, you people throw a lot of crap and accusations his way -- the Alberto I know and ran with for years -- is a completely Ethical and Conservative guy.
He also cares 100% about his athletes health and safety.
