I think you mean nowhere west of the mississippi and east of the rockies. Otherwise, you have eliminated everyplace on earth.

Deliverance was set in Georgia, not West Virginia.
Yes, there is poverty there and somewhat of a dearth of culture, which is one of the reasons I would not want to live there long term, but I have never had any problems when I have visited West Virginia. I would stay away from Morgantown on one of those football nights, though.
Iraq and Afghanistan.
Detroit can be a cool city if you know where to go. Admittedly, there are huge sections that are pretty much empty but the city has some real gems if you know where to go. As for me, I don't thinnk I could live in the deep south or the plains states. South is to hot and the plains are just to damn flat. Anywhere else I could make due. I second the comment about anywhere without good micro brews.
I think that's the key thing - it's not about geography but places that have too many of the wrong kind of people who aren't like me.
"Diversity" is all well and good, but it has to be a diversity of people who are basically like me.
You mean Republicans, right?
Honestly, I wouldn't live in a place that has too many of "the wrong kind of people".
and I think you all know what I mean by that...
Im just saying.

We all know what kind of people you mean without spelling it out. ;) Too many places have way too many of them ...
