Obviously his (or her?) remarks were over your head. Speaking for myself, if you wrote a lie about me on this website or any other, I would personally sue you and you can bank on it Mr. Donegan. Go for it. Cases like this were backed up last year in Massachusetts but you are obviously not very bright to understand that it happens everyday.

I know what he meant by hobby site because I am 99% sure I know what the site is and the name of the man who got nailed, but I wouldn't post it here if you paid me. If it was the site I am thinking of, it WAS libel and the guy got in serious trouble as did the website. Schooled? You made yourself look like a fool.

I have a friend who will give us all we need to know about you via your IP, which I already have. Write one personal lie and I can assure you that a libel lawsuit will be eminent. If you were one of the posters who said I know as a fact about either coach, I would already have the paper work going. Seriously, you are rather dumb.

Whats to say I don't live in an apartment block where internet is included in the rate and therefore hundreds of people have the same IP, and don't say that every computer has an individual one because that is not true.

Haha good point but like I say even if I wanted to I think your fighting a loosing battle to sue someone for what they said on an internet message board. I have a brilliant image in my head of 'write a lie' being laughed out of court and having to walk back to his mums basement with his head hung low.

You might want to school up a bit more, Schooooled.

He can *touch* you with a subpoena, an injunction, a court order giving access to the Brojos forum, or through a variety of other legal maneuvers.

Plenty of ways to take this on if someone has the time and money to deal with it.

I haven't gotten my copy of RT yet so I haven't seen this letter. Can anybody tell me whether Scott Douglas (or the editors generally) responded?

As has been pointed out, it's not that Wetmore is replying to a direct quote from Johnson - the disputed assertions are made by the author of the piece. It read to me like either (a) Douglas thought the allegations he made "for" Johnson were common knowledge in running circles or (b) they worked out some agreement about Johnson not going entirely "on the record" with those comments, but getting them into the piece anyway.

I would like to hear from the author of the piece.

A subpoena? That sounds like some sort of nutritional supplement a middle aged woman might take to keep her bowls regular.

I just took exception to some no doubt spotty little dweeb on here saying he could sue people etc etc. When you think of all the real crimes that go on that people actually know about but nothing can be done because peoples hands are tied...

I'm talking about prostitution, human trafficing, drug dealing where the police know where it is happening and who is doing it but are unable to bring these people to justice.

And for someone to think they can waste the legal systems time sueing someone because they said on a running forum that 0.00000001% of the population reads or even know about that someone is a "bad recruiter". Give me an effing break.

It would not stop you yet none of us can know definitively whether you'd respond similarly if it was indeed Wetmore and not Johnson who was allegedly responsible for failing to contact runners. Your speculation as to the causes behind Harkrader's injuries does appear to fit neatly within a tidy defense of Wetmore. Also, it's not at all unreasonable to entertain discussions tangential to the main topic here, especially if they go to the credibility of the two principals involved or their defenders. You chose to step in and bring up Harkrader by name as an example, it seems probable that nobody else would have mentioned Harkrader if you hadn't. Should that earn you, him, or Wetmore any immunity on the topic? With all due respect, Mr. McCarthy, and continued credit to you for responding with honesty.

As far as I can tell, letters to the editor tend to be written by paranoid wingnut cranks with too much time on their hands.

You guys are all wrong, yet right because it's up to either person (coaches) to decide if they wanted to file action and most likely they wouldn't. If this Wetmore guy has been wronged on a public website, he certainly has the right to file a lawsuit. None of you uneducated wise guys could stop him.

Will he, most likely not, but if he chose to nobody on this site could stop him. I come here once or twice a week and it's pretty sad that people can't post about someone as if they were standing right in front of them. Immature doesn't begin to define it. Here's an idea for the New Year: Grow up.

Sorry to inform you guys, but I only post under my own name. Unlike you cowards who slander my name. I haven't posted on this site in over a year. I swore I never would again. My advise get a life. The only reason I saw this is I was told of this post with my name involved. I earned my masters degree from CU Boulder and have nothing but respect for Wetmore and his program.
