I always question links like that. treating hypothroidism is simple and scientifically proven. there are some questions as to what the normal range should be but the tests are not hard to interpret.
No one should be on cytomel. It is a dangerous medication. your levothyroxine is converted to T3. There is no need to replace T3.
Graves disease - RAI'ed thyroid (hypo)
After four years. Just a couple of tips. for what it's worth.
1. Levothyroxine and Armour (naturally dessicated thyroid (NSD) both made by Forest labs didn't work for me. At first Armour worked but Forest labs reformulated it and it isn't worth a hoot. Levothyroxine (88mcgs)caused me a lot of problems.
2. I took a pro-active stance in my transition from levo to
a NSD made in Thailand called (Thiroyd 1grain), love it.
[Thiroyd - Content in one tablet (60 mg thyroid extract): approximately 38 mcg Levothyroxine (T4) and 9 mcg Liothyronine (T3)] you can try Armour if it's an option.
I'm getting much better. But I'm having one of my doctors do the Free t4/Free t3 and tsh in six weeks. It's called a transition from synthetic thyroid to naturally dessicated thyroid.
Also you've gotta keep a temperature plot. Get a Nexcare digital thermometer (read this

). On Levothyroxine my temp never got above 97.0 (alway 96.0 - 97.7) on Thiroyd my body temp is stabilizing towards 98.2 - 98.6 , and hypo symptoms vanished.
3. A cheap way to get a doctor is to call or see your local pharmacist (best if you know the pharmacist) and ask them for an endocrinologist, internal specialist or doctor that regularly prescribes Naturally dessicated thyroid.
4. One note I stopped the Levothyroxine for one week and noticed my stride rate dropped from 180 to 160, pretty tiring. But I'll see what my labs are in six weeks.

Bumping an OLD thread because its great...
I am wondering what people these days think of T3 supplementation (i.e. taking cytomel with levo/synthroid). I can't find much in the literature about it.
Also, I am wondering what people have been doing in terms of diet/supplements. I know that thyroid hormones influence the production of a bunch of different vitamins/nutrients in the body, so I am wondering if there are any gaps that need to be filled by supplementation.
