13.1 Sticker

Maybe that sticker is just something fun to put on the car to let other runners know they are a runner too. The bible thumpers will probably try to figure out what book and verse that 13.1 is refering to, but a runner will know.

And maybe they are not eliteist anti-social speed-goggle-wearing snobs and would welcome the random conversation that starts with "So, you're a runner too?".

A couple of them actually are Republicans, but after they've had a couple of beers while they're waiting for slow people like yourself to finish they're actually quite amiable. I'm sure you've seen the tattoos when they've run up to meet their jr high daughters who outkicked you.

Let's see, I've been stating that everyone that has a 13.1 or 26.2 sticker on their car ISN'T a douchebag, and that runners from the front of the pack have them too. Conversely, the OP and others are basically piling a bunch of derogatory remarks on people with stickers on their vehicles.

That's pretty terrible thing to say. I'm a novice runner, and I will run my first half in two weeks. I am so excited and when I finish I will be so proud that I accomplished my goal. Then I am going to train for a full marathon. I'll be proud when I finish that, too. In the meantime, I will put a sticker on my car because I am proud of my personal goals.

So, instead of cutting people down for the "smaller" accomplishments, how about encouraging them to be stronger and run more distances? I do agree that putting a 5k sticker on a car is a bit excessive, but a half? Come on, give the guy some credit. I'm sorry, but not everyone can do that and if he's proud of what he's done, leave him alone.

Because those with stickers aren't posting here for you to drunkenly swing on. You can't try to fight with those who are nowhere to be seen.

I know I guy that I train with every once in awhile, he has a 5K sticker on his car. Only runs about 16:30 for the 5K. Not something I would do, but its his car. I give him props for having the balls, and if he has the passion and enjoys running the 5K that much, more power to him. Its better than those white trash stickers with the cartoon character pissing on whatever.
