Nuts. If Geb can set a WR after the pace shifting that occurred in the first few 5k's then he is most certainly capable of making Sammy lose at his own game.

He sped up in Berlin, didn't he? (Last 10km.)
He also went out slower and negative split the second half of the race. (not saying he can't pick it up, just saying.)
Still three pacers... Ngolepus lasting longer that I thought.... his mouth wide open though...

Kales deserves a lot of credit. He can easily take Geb thru 35K. He looks very relaxed. Might we have a race?
This is great news. Berlin looked like a "race" at 35k.
he wasn't asking about THE 30km WR, he was asking about geb's 30k split on route to his WR.
30K-40K berlin was 14:28, slowed way down after 41K though
Berlin splits:
25 km 1:13:41
30 km 1:28:27
35 km 1:43:05
40 km 1:57:34
Halves: 1:02:05 / 1:01:54
Geb once again provides a reason for me to stop trying.
25k split?
2 1:28:01+ Haile Gebrselassie ETH 18.04.73 1 Dubai 18.01.2008
3 1:28:27+ Haile Gebrselassie ETH 18.04.73 1= Berlin 28.09.2008

He does the opposite to me. He inspires me to just run.

I thought there were only 4 corners on the entire course?[/quote]
Actually he is telling them when they are approaching to the water tables... and pointing... left or right...
where r u getting the splits from
just a couple of notes on kales his haif marathon best is 60:47 and this is his DEBUT marathon, maybe he could get the debut marathon record which is about 2:05:50 by evans rutto in chicago.
Women are still in a pack of 8. This will be a definite race.

Exactly. The sport is all about improving yourself which Geb has been a champion of for so many years now. This should inspire people to be better. You don't ahve to be the best, all you have to do is be the best you can be.
