I guess you don't even pay attention to your own posts. If you're not in a position to win, you're just time trailing. If you not in at least the top 100 you're not in a position to win, so the only difference between you and Mrs. Penguin is where you come up on the scroll, neither of you had anything to do with the competition.

Hey, you said if soccer moms aren't part of the race, they don't belong. How am I wrong? Is it the times I suggested, or me implying you wouldn't be a factor in the race? Tell us, where do you rank? Go ahead, slap me in the face with your superior logic. Explain it to me. While you are at it, don't just tell us who DOESN'T belong in a race, tell us who you think does. Instead of just responding to posts and picking apart what others says, make a thoughtful statement as to what you think should change.

Oh, and where's the proof of interest... the fact that there's about 20,000+ people at the starting lines of these majors. And each one of them represents a hotel room, or a restaurant meal, or a potential customer for one of the sponsors. Not to mention Nike, Asics, et al. love to sell all those extra shoes. The majors are money makers, and the crowds aren't going anywhere any time soon. The major interest these days is in participating, not watching.

You chose to respond to my comments, the onus is on you to provide the link between the two. I have no idea what you're trying to convey here and I don't care enough about you or your views to do the work of listing suggestions for you to choose from. Summarize, say what you mean already.

Tell that to the NYRR or LaSalle Bank spectator totals. Anyway, because it brings in money does not automatically make it noble or justifiable.

I feel inspired by this thread. I'm gonna find a marathon to walk next month. Sure, I could run one, but I just want to help crowd up the place, and see how many twerpy, skinny guys who's voices still haven't changed, who have no self-respect, and who have no girlfriends, who spend WAY too much time on the internet arguing with total strangers, who never get any attention, I can piss off. Unlesss they put their money where their mouth is and STFU and boycott already.

Yeah, making the sport "worthwhile" to all those who never actually do anything in or for the sport is commendable. Question for you: I'm a decent runner (<2:50hr marathoner), obviously not at your calibur, but I'm ok in my eyes). This past Summer I entered a volleyball tournament & I SUCK at volleyball. I play 3-4 times /yr and just do it for fun. I have no commitment to the sport, nor do I contribute. My question to you is I am basically your 'penguin', in the volleyball world. Should I not be allowed to enter this tournament?

No, I really don't. It's pretty clear who's grounded in reality and who isn't. I've never made any claims to competitive greatness in running. As a gimpy near geezer I have a pretty firm grasp of where I sit in the whole scheme of things and unlike you have never claimed otherwise. I'm also wise enough to know that calling your spouse either chubby or a jogger is not the key to a long relationship, something I gather you've never had.

The thing that wastes of flesh like yourself can't comprehend is when anyone goes out and runs their 3:30 marathon is doesn't mean anything to anyone but themselves. That's fine, but if you expect someone besides the second cousin you're banging to give a rip run a 2:21:59. You're a leech and that's the end of it. People that are worth anything, unlike yourself, understand that that if they give a damn about the sport they need to do something besides taking up space on asphalt. It's a boundary that intelligent people cross.

Now if you had an ounce of sense or half a brain you'd know who you're talking to and what you're talking about. Apparently you possess neither. Go back to your momma's teet little boy, I've taken shits with more balls than you.

Sorry to say not much to love about someone so pathetic. It's people with his attitude that soil the sport. I surely loved to beat various friends and regional rivals when the opportunity used to present itself and I worked to make that happen. I was however smart enough to know that except on the smallest of scales I was never a factor in the real competition. It's a concept Mr. Stoned hasn't grasped yet. I content myself with running because I want to, racing because it's fun, and doing the business of the sport such as organizing the races, measuring the courses, and doing the other things of the sport that need to be done. I'm sure no one would complain if more took up the responsibility.

Some people keep the house up and take care of the family, others can't piss inside the rim or pay their bar tab. I'm pretty sure you understand who's who.

We really have to look at ourselves if we are considering boycotting marathons that have walking status. What if the elites looked down at us as just sub 3 hour runners. Watching and particiapting in the Detroit Marathon (twice) and living near the training grounds of the Hanson-Brooks team I can see both sides of the spectrum each weekend. What if those professional runners refused to acknowledge me because my sub 3-hour performance was not up to their standards. Wake up people! More runners means more exposure and greater prize purses, plus we might just get to see more road races on national teleivision. Now with this said, I don't see the benifit to walking a marathon, or even thte allure, but to each his own.

So lighten up you arrogant elitist f-ing snobs!

It's hilarious that mental midgets are not only drawn to threads like this like fleas to a kennel, but that they are such easy marks and are so easily led around by their noses to keep replying to a pointless discussion.
