With your stack of cash, go get another academic credential for a year or two, use that as an alibi for your time between jobs, and apply for a new job, preferably far enough away that they're not going to talk to your old workplace. Hopefully, your severance will include some sort of provision that prevents them from blackballing you, no pun intended.
Well, obviously, you need to start applying for new jobs. Your stated reason for leaving your previous job needs to be that you "just needed a break" or come up with a good story. Ask a previous manager or somebody who ranks high at the company whether they're still okay being a professional reference for you in your job search (The chance of somebody saying something negative about you during a reference check is low because there's a lot of risk to the company). If you need to avoid a resume gap, try to find some podunk contract role you can start soon, while you continue to look for better jobs. You obviously have no financial urgency as you are a single guy with a lot of money saved.
You're not an alcoholic or anything. I know because we've hung out before (Remember we were out till 4 a.m. at the NYC LRC meetup in 2018? Fun times ..).
