...and, who wants to watch races where the BEST show up in tiered races to compete where as in the 5000m they jog 80's for 10 laps and then drop a 1:49? Who cares?
Fans want to see world records, Fans want to see competition, they don't want to see what we saw!
AND I can guaranteed that is 100% why in the tiered events the inverters pulled out. The athletes manipulated the system to give MINIMAL effort, because they could get away with it.
Grand Slam failed, because the athletes in particular the mid and long distance athletes exploited the event with high school-like performances the likes of which have never been seen before and I turned the channel in disgust.
I knew at IAAF or other events I was going to see them forced to compete, at Grand Slam, they competed on the last lap.
I can guarantee if we saw world records or Grand Fisher and these top dogs really go for it, energy, excitement... no, go grab a beer, some popcorn, come back in 13 minutes and watch the finish and OH by the way, NAIA ran faster.
The system was flawed, the athletes saw the weakness and it was a cash grab and then guess what guys... YOU DIDN'T GET PAID!
I bet if you broke a world record you might have.
