This format will not survive unless the athletes understand that their role is to entertain. If all they do is the bare minimum to get their paycheck, the audience will tune out.

The 100m on the women's side in the US seemed kind of random for a while but Jefferson is quickly estbalishing herself as the clear #2 behind Sha'Carri. Guess everyone else will be battling for that third spot at Trials (actually the US women have an extra spot this year so it'll be a battle for the #3 and #4 individual spots in the 100m)
3) the announcers are trying to promote the sport, so what are they always saying the word “slow” as many times as possible? It’s rational behavior and if you were a pro runner you would do the same thing.

Again just me or was that in eerily similar race to Kingston in terms of its construct? Slightly faster through 4/8, no Wanyoni there to use his superior power in the final 60m, today it was Kerr who wins because he probably handled the faster laps better, Nuguse second, Hocker third (just like Kingston). Again, it's an okay race but less drama and intrigue than the first one.
