Jakob didn't even look like he shifted gears for the last 400, he was running relaxed while Aregawi was holding on for dear life.
Jakob is highly inscrutable as a runner though. If you look at photos or videos of him losing championship races, he typically doesn’t appear to be straining there either.
I tend to think this quality is a reflection of his ridiculous strength and the enormity of his training. He’s like a machine that never falters, even when it’s operating at 100% capacity.
That’s true. Jakob looked very relaxed while Kerr kicked past him for world championship gold in Budapest.
^ When someone cannot be objective because they are blinded by love
But you haven’t explained what wasn’t objective about any of my posts, which shows a lack of argumentative skills on your part. Try again.
Other people already explained why you’re wrong. I don’t need to repeat what they said. You wouldn’t listen anyway. You are incapable of objective views of Jakob. Because all you see is 😍

Clearly, the failed move to get around Aregawi with 200 to go impacted the speed of the final lap. If he successfully makes the pass there, he would probably have closed in 26 flat or even faster. Once that move failed, I think he realized the best time to make another move was the final 50 so that’s what he did. It’s very difficult to pass indoors in general and even harder when you’re flat out on the final lap.
Doesn't matter what Josh Kerr ran, it was a different race. I would say, however, that Jakob beat a stronger field than what Josh faced. Aregawi > Barega/Nuguse, obviously (7:21 guy).
How so? Aregawi might be a gold medal talent, sure, but all he's had is silvers so far. Nuguse is a 3:43 miler and Barega is 2020 Olympic 10000 champ.
Umm, you're comparing a 1500m and 3000m? Or am I not understanding what you are writing?
both run at slow paces. shouldn't be much of a difference.
Love that even Jakob’s victories are so dissected and criticized. He’s come to this championship to win, and so far so good. Aregawi is very worthy competition and Jakob floated by him easily in the final stretch with no real sense he wasn’t going to win. One down, one to go. No sweat.
Akins seemed ti get tripped from behind before hitting the track, any chance she gets put through?
That’s too bad. But glad to see she took the high road and wasnt a bitter sore loser like Sage Hurta endlessly complaining it was some else’s fault she didn’t advance.

Wasn’t that last year at the Olympic trials? It has probably been Hurta’s life long dream to run in the Olympics and 2024 was her best shot. I doubt she would be as upset about a fall in World Indoor as she was about what happened at the OT, especially if she had made the 2024 team.
It is even more clear rewatching the race video that Jakob was cruising for 150m after a failed attempt to take the lead at the bell, to then relaunch an attack to overtake in the home straight for the win.
He even said in his post-race interview with JG, "had I been in the lead I would have been running faster," but he knew he could beat Aregawi in a sprint finish based on previous encounters.
Yes, he was banking on Aregawi rigging the last 100 or himself activating a 13.1 last 100 (even running wide) in case of emergency. He made Aregawi work hard to keep the lead, and thats a 5-10K guy coming down. But he still had to gut this one out because Aregawi ran good tactics and fought off the surge.

It’s everyone’s life long dream to be in the Olympics. Few make it. She didn’t even make it to Worlds, so… nothing to talk about there. and obviously she didn’t and won’t be making the Olympic team.
