What so many posters here don't get is that Filip's comments about his brother are scarcely different from a mother praising her son. They aren't an objective analysis.
As I said, Filip's comments are intended to make Jakob feel good and intimidate the competition. They won't be intimidated. Do you seriously imagine the best runners in the sport aren't also putting the work in? That's how they have beaten him.
That might be so, but that doesn't help you in your lie.
Yes, and you “lied” about Ingebrigtsen and Krop being 2-2 in internal matching. Man, are we all going to use child’s words here..?
For almost any of Coe's defeats during his prime, there was some sort of injury in discussion.
No there wasn't. Jakob is the master of excuses. His fans have elevated it to an art form.
Bullsh*t.
What excuses did he make after the biggest loss of his career to date.? This is all I could about his reaction to the Paris 1500m:
“Ingebrigtsen was incredibly humble in defeat, taking to social media to bury the hatchet after failing to make the podium, while rival Kerr improved on his own Tokyo 2021 bronze. Taking to Instagram, the Norwegian wrote: "Well, I guess he did show up after all…," referring to Kerr. Before adding: "Hocker and Nuguse as well. My team always say that 'because you have a big mouth and is the one to beat, you have everything to lose in competitions'. Today, Cole Hocker, Yared Nuguse and Josh Kerr outsmarted me.”
Your obsessive hatred of such a talented runner that frequently races and goes for records and wins is bizarre. He’s arguably the best thing to ever happen to distance running. If he was a Kiwi, you’d be his biggest fan.
The journalist points out to Jakob that Copenhagen Marathon have said that it is possible to set world records there, to which he answers:
I am not a part of that (setting world records) discussion.
He also talks about how he sees it as being on holiday and doing it just for fun.
I don’t have any idea where you are trying to go with this, but you are just digging yourself deeper.
You are cherry picking -I didn’t hide that Jakob (or Filip for that matter) downplayed it in the way you cite. -After all I read the articles. I only stress that they also said the things that goes in a different direction (hope of doing an extremely good race). And Kristoffer Ingebrigtsen f.x (who has raced Copenhagen) really believed Jakob would win.
I think the following is key: Jakob knows (better than almost everyone) that a part of the game is taking chances (mostly because it is so hard to know the outcome, even in a 1500m, but certainly in the longer events). So he took a chance in WC 5000m 2019, and probably ruined a bronze medal, and also a following 1500m silver (because he was so spent after the 5000m). And in Stoltzekleiven he went for it (at 16 years old) after running OK the year before. Result: Half comatose over the finish line. And in u20 WC xc he blew up totally unexpected. And in Paris OG he was on to something, but wasn’t fine tuned enough (took too many chances by just following his body feel).
But in WC 2023 he took a chance in the 5000m (raced despite being sick), and it payed off. And in the fall he took a major chance by running the mile against Nuguse, despite flying through 9 time zones, and having to front run in the wind. And the day after a 3000m vs Kejelcha on tired legs. But both races was a success. 2024: 15 min before his Silesia 3000m the temperature was 31 Celsius in the shadows, with 150m of the track exposed to sunshine, and the plastic halfroof functioning like a hot green house, and wind burst expected -so what did he do: He boldly took a chance nevertheless against Kejelcha and Aregawi, and exposed himself by front running. Result: It paid off huge! And lastly: Jakob decides to race in Copenhagen despite lack of preparation. Does he again take a chance? Sure, because he has no clue how fast he can run in a situation that isn’t ideal. But neither was Silesia. So off he goes, with a hundred thoughts in his head: Win, WR, blowing up in the last part of the race, running a fast first 10k, and then maybe calm down to a NR or a European record, or at least a good experience about closing speed. But blowing up after 10k? -Hardly?
So am I disrespecting him? -Not at all. He is as tough as they come. But this was a downer. Permanently? Not necessarily. And that’s exciting. But in my mind he has expectations to beat… Jakob took a chance and he lost. Can he be a comeback kid in the 10k/HM? To me that would be a huge huge bonus.

Your wife reads many of Armstronglivs' posts regarding Ingebrigtsen? She knows the behaviour of the guy well, right?
Armstronglivs is a notorious liar - a fact. He has lied many times about what he has written before when even he has realised which contratictioning nonsense he has written. He is not capable to get the most easy facts correct - many many examples for this
In all of his thousands (yes, thousands, and yes this is worth mentioning) of posts regarding this single athlete, he has only one intention: to downplay his achievements and his comments (which might be incorrect sometimes, maybe also arrogant)
Someone mentions that Ingebrigtsen is a 3:26 athlete (everbody in this forum, including Armstronglivs) knows the exact meaning of this and almost anybody (including Armstronglivs) uses it in exact this way. But he has to come up with: Ingebrigtsen is not a 3:26 athlete. For sure people will argue now against this nonsense - and another point is destroyed.
Just a few days ago he compares Ingebrigtsen's 800m PB with Coe's. Why? When confronted with the enormous difference in their PBs in longer events he just replys: Coe was a 800m/1500m runner. Also Ingebrigtsen?
There are so many more examples. But continue to shorten your gap to him.
He avoids any concrete question, for example: where do you rank him with all his achievements? He can't answer it, because he doesn't want to tell the truth, that he already is amongst the all-time greats.
Anybody who just tries to fairly discuss his achievements is called a stupid fan boy. I'm not a fan of him and I was really happy when Wightman has beaten him, also when Kerr did the same a year later (this has changed now and I'm routing for Ingebrigtsen against Kerr now). My favourite 1500m currently is Nuguse. But this has nothing to do how I value their achievements.
I lost all the respect which I might have had for you a while ago. But this completely irrelevant comment about your wife was the last step: you can't taken seriously, same like your friend.
Very very few athletes at age 24 have achieved what Ingebrigtsen has (who?). Therefore it's a realistic point of view he might get to the absolute top (his goal). This has absolutely nothing to do with blind fan behavior.
Maybe he will never win another 1500m medal. Maybe he will win the next 3 up to LA. Maybe he will never set another record. Or he will get the 1500m, Mile and 5000m this summer? That's also possible after last year and this winter.
What's the point in ridiculing any failure of him?
And here we are. Calling people psychotic. The apperentice is slowly becoming the master.
I could quote things “yessssss” and other unregistered troll handles have called Armstronglivs that are far worse than “are you psychotic or blind”. But why on earth would I want to play that game. -I’m pretty sure you know about all this without me pointing it out.

Of course Armstronglivs is a subjective poster (we all are). And of course he over does things, and is playing a devils advocate against Jakob. And of course he teases a lot of his opponents, and of course he twists a lot of his words so they can fit his narrative. And even when I have discussed with him he has called my posts flannel, and refused to read them.
But you, and most posters here, refuses to acknowledge that you aren’t any better. -I have been on this forum for many years, and I have discussed with the most serious and knowledgeable posters here, and believe me -they don’t come out better than Armstronglivs. On the contrary: they come out worse in many segments of the debate.

Rightly in my view -you can’t change hopelessness with reasoning. And of course he then plays along…
Armstronglivs has a gut feeling that doping is prevalent and that Jakob is a narcissist in a bad way. Well, my own gut feelings is different, but that doesn’t mean that Armstronglivs is wrong. All I see is that you keep providing evidence of that Jakob etc are the opposite of what Armstronglivs tries to paint them as. You have provided sources proving that they say a WR is out of the question, that they think he might not even finish, that he will have a tough time no matter what. I dont think there have been many examples of a runner at that level that are this honest and realistic before a big race. You even stated that he didn't think he would run his 3000m times this century.

When my kids say "but everyone else does it, and they do it even worse" I tell them that it doesn’t matter what everyone else does, because they are not everyone else. They cant control what eveyone else does, but they can control what they do.
Its such a shame that people ruin the debate by throwing dirt like that.

Disagree -sometimes it’s very called for. I think you should teach your children to stand up for them selves when they are being bullied, but of course also not to over do it. And I think I’m a poster with below average use of offensive language.

Sorry, but this is your third or fiurth essay in this thread I believe. After seeing some of your other posts it is not compelling to read another one to say the least. I'll reserve that time to posters who are sticking to the topic and refrain from namecalling.

I bet you believe that, and I bet you also think you were bullied there. My children are perfectly able to take disagreements on the chin without calling someone psycho in response.

Name me any Ingebrigtsen thread of the last two years where Army has posted a lot (he might have in any), name me a single page in this thread where he has at least 5 posts: I bet I can name you mistakes , contradictions, lies, belitteling of others of him and so on. It's in almost any of his posts regarding Ingebrigtsen (and pretty sure in all of his posts - he is in a "fight" with almost anybody).
He just comes here to "educate" the posters who don't share his view about Ingebrigtsen (something he always criticises on others, that they can't accept other opinions). The opposite is true. He can't accept other views. Even when those "views" are facts. He often even denies facts when he doesn't like them - many examples for this.
He presents some good facts? Are you fu%&$g serious? He is wrong with almost any number he presents - sorry, but he is too stupid to bring correct numbers (when he learned that Ingebrigtsen is no. 20 all-time in the 5000m (he can't find this stat by himself - he just can't) he mentions it again and again, also that there are 20 others besides Cheptegei who are faster than him. This wrong number is completely irrelevant, yes, but it illustrates that he is too stupid to directly see such things (or: over 5 years since his Olympic 1500m Gold). And even worse: he has no interest to bring correct facts.
In all his thousands (yes, dude, this is relevant) of posts regarding Ingebrigtsen he has contributed absolutely nothing to Ingebrigtsen's running career (but hundreds of times the same stuff like 12:48, lost 3 finals in a row, had to stop after a 10k NR and so on). Nothing of interest like intermediate times, win/loss records, historical comparisons and so on. Nothing (maybe he has sometimes a point about Ingebrigtsen/family interviews)
Just negativity. What a bad athlete Ingebrigtsen is because of his average 800m PB (bad in middle distance running). What a bad athlete Ingebrigtsen is because of not having good results longer than 5000m (bad in long distance running, no comparison to 5000m/10000m guys like Geb). What an unbelievable nonsense when we all can see how good he is from 1500m to 5000m (and probably in longer events in the future). What a laughable point if he IS a middle distance runner or a long distance runner.
Armstrong's only ambition is to make trouble, he has no interest to seriously discuss anything (which includes to accept when someone has shown he was wrong on something). He can't. And he never will.
I just can laugh about your stupid comments regarding him.
I think you have to read my “essay” if you are interested in my view here.
Sorry, but this is your third or fiurth essay in this thread I believe. After seeing some of your other posts it is not compelling to read another one to say the least. I'll reserve that time to posters who are sticking to the topic and refrain from namecalling.
You won’t read what a poster writes, but you want to discuss with him..?
Disagree -sometimes it’s very called for. I think you should teach your children to stand up for them selves when they are being bullied, but of course also not to over do it. And I think I’m a poster with below average use of offensive language.
I bet you believe that, and I bet you also think you were bullied there. My children are perfectly able to take disagreements on the chin without calling someone psycho in response.
Well, I chose to respond that way to a troll that has said a lot of nasty things -not to me, but to another poster. I’m not upset over that, but sometimes reality must be properly named, when things keep on over time.

I respect that you think he is a bad poster. And I also respect if you think I am that…
I too think some posters here are bad. But I also see some good ones, also among those who disagree with me in quite a lot.
Armstronglivs (and I) will always view things differently from what you do, and we will be honest about it. -Irritating? Yes, I can empathise with that. But if you get so angry about meeting views you don’t agree in, or debating styles you dislike (and again I can empathise with you -I myself isn’t of course a machine without feelings), then I think you should block posters you don’t like, or at least not reading their posts, or at least not communicating with them. -I’m not saying this condescending -I’m just trying to find out what I would have done if I was very offended by other posters like you describe..
Saying all this, I will add that I think a lot of the posters that throw bs at Armstronglivs here aren’t in here because they are Jakob fans. (Some even keep saying they don’t like him). But they’re here because they like to feel righteous, and because they like to try to bully. And because they feel backed up by the votes from the Jakob fans, and inspired by not being stopped. Some circus if you ask me…
They probably offered him a bag of money and he figured he could get paid to put in an intense sunday long run to end the season.
I'm sure he thought he'd have a better result too, just as fisher probably expected better than 7:49 in his final 3000 of the year.
He's always paid to turn up; he's a professional athlete. Vanity is the more likely explanation.
Fisher wasn't drawing attention to himself, running outside his distance, like the Norwegian narcissist was.
lol
The most narcissistic poster on LR calling anyone else a narcissist. Armstronglivs truly is screaming for attention, his posts truly are the only time he engages with human beings other then the staff at his current abode, a nursing home.

Agreed, they seriously need some serious help lmao completely derailing the thread, like how much of a waste of life and loser do you need to be to constantly reply on Jakob threads XD
On topic, Jakob seems primed to have a crazy summer track season, we will see what happens.
