I realize Copenhagen was not a “serious” attempt at the distance and he was not prepared, but still, if the HM was his distance I don’t think he would have struggled like that regardless of his training or having just run a DL 1500 and worlds. I mean, look at Hassan. That’s a runner who is a natural at the long distances even with her 1500/5000 resume. Jakob did not look like another Hassan.

Faster than the 10k world record in the late 90’s and early 2000’s EPO era, and only few seconds slower than the current record in the super shoe era.

Yes, that 12:57 split between 5k and 10k is certainly a little “unusual”

The splits got revised, see posts above. 5k-15k was still low 26:30s with a low 13:10s split in there.

The effects of technology for road and track shoes are different things. I doubt if anyone has denied that the road shoes cause a significant improvement. For the track shoes, the world records(the real ones) have held for 800m, 1500m, and the mile, with only small improvements in the 5 and 10.

Anyone know what the new drug is? Because there is something really good the runners and cyclists are taking. My rationale is:

-Cycling is having the same improvements while obviously not having the technological improvements of super shoes.

-Big improvements in performances that are not explainable by shoes or track surfaces.

Wish he would just say it and give statistical reasoning.
