Fred is keeping it real. Noah probably will think twice before mouthing off at Fred again. Should be great on season 3 of Sprint.

I can't believe you're taking this view Ruxton, especially with your performative liberalism that you always display here. It doesn't matter if one of the officers was black or a woman, when you're wearing a police uniform, your race is police
The video is the deal-breaker. I can be as liberal about police policy as I want, but if I deny what I see in the video (which is Kerley ramping up the situation in the beginning), then I lose my status as an honest moderate person.
I believe that serious reform and training are needed for police departments. I believe that people need to be held accountable for escalation in situations like this (especially the police who are supposed to be well-trained and "better" than the rest of us). I also believe body-cams help hold people accountable.
But as a moderate, if all of that is happening and we get a situation like this (where the police have every reason to expect Kerley to listen to their first ten requests that he back up), I can't just shout "police brutality." If you believe it is ALWAYS police brutality, you are not being honest.
And if we (liberals) want to be taken seriously, we have to be intellectually honest about the specific case we are looking at. Sometimes people get tased for a reason. It isn't always brutality.

Just watched the video…mix of black Hispanic and white cops, mostly male a couple female. Kerley very clearly escalated a verbal disagreement into a physical one. Not smart to do against cops, basically writing your own misdemeanor ticket there. He continued to attempt to continue to escalate the fight after he was subdued, calling the cops n word, calling them weak, etc. Even wealthy olympic athletes have to follow the law.

Fred assaulted the officer. If you actually watch the video, Fred walked up to him and pushed the cop back. That’s assault and battery. After that, he deserved worse than he got. They went easy on him.
How dumb do you have to be to assault an officer after you walk up on him? If he just let the officer move him back and didn't react like a moran nothing would have happened. And who tf is that abysmal woman with him? That shrill will give me nightmares

P.S. My liberalism isn't performative. I really do believe that a society where kindness, tolerance, patience, moderation, cooperation, and respect are held up as foundational values is the best kind of society. That might sound like some ur-Judeo-Christian ethical framework, nowadays it is called "Liberal."
But I am not falling for a woke view that says every conflict is the by-product of racism and white-supremacist thinking. That is not actually true in real life, so I don't see the world that way. If that means I am not a "real Liberal," then I am okay being a moderate who represents real liberal/moderate/Judeo-Christian values and rejects both woke and M@GA world-views.

If he didn't threaten the officer, then there was no assault. Only battery.
He could get up to 5 years in jail just for the battery of police officer charge. So no LA Olympics. Very sad.
“ He didn’t do nuthin”!!!!!!!!!!

He is not getting any jail time.
Put the paddle back into teachers hands. Kids will learn that actions have CONSEQUENCES. Fred never learned this lesson.

According to 7News Miami, Kerley was concerned about his car, which was parked near the scene of a police investigation, and refused to leave when asked by officers.
Police said he became increasingly aggressive and refused to leave when asked by officers.
Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation, Kerley assumed a fighting stance and ignored lawful commands, leading to his resistance during the arrest, according to police.
Emergency backup was called, and a dart-firing stun gun was deployed to subdue Kerley, who was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
Kerley faces charges of battery on a police officer, corrections officer, or firefighter, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct.Updated: Here is disturbing video showing him being tasered:
another angle showing cop hitting Fred:
Just saw the videos for the first time.
Again, I understand the narrative, the history, the issues - all of it. But my god Fred - what exactly was the outcome you expected here?
I'm watching the same video everyone else is right? Chirping with cops, starts walking towards a cop who puts his hand up palm down on an angle to stop him, he continues to the point an officer has to push him backwards (should be your biggest sign that it's time to stop), a sh-t eating grin on his face followed by raising both his hands and forcefully pushing a cop up around his chest/neck, schoolyard style. Or is this not what goes down?
I mean seriously, do we really believe that if that if Matt Boling does the exact same thing and shoves a cop in his chest that it's not the same outcome? You f--k around with the police you will find out. It would never even cross my mind to do this to a bunch of cops no matter how in the wrong I thought they were and it doesn't even sound like they were doing anything unprocedural to begin with.
This "cops picking on a black man for no good reason" is absurd in this instance. I don't know what defense he has because to be honest, he instigates all of it. Now that equally idiotic tough guy laying into him like a coward as he's being tackled by what, 3 of his fellow cops - that's ridiculous and is a situation which just can't happen from the entity supposed to be representing lawfulness and the cooler head. But again, at what point do you stop asking for trouble - lay down and stop moving for gods sake.
People who end up in these situations are their own worst enemies - does anyone really think if he just does what he's asked any of this happens?
