RFK Jr saying he never knew anybody who was autistic as a kid is particularly galling considering his aunt Eunice founded a day camp for kids with autism in 1962 and founded the Special Olympics in 1968 Just a completely dishonest POS
I am not as old as RFK Jr., but I do not recall any kids I grew up with having autism. I am not saying it is a vaccination thing, but I just didn't know of anyone who had it. It is likely that RFK Jr. also never knew anyone who had it.
At all times (including when you grew up) there are lots of kids who, in times past, would have been in what was then known as Special Ed. Many of them are now referred to as Autistic.
Were you not aware of Special Ed as a kid? If so, it is only because you were sheltered (not your fault).
You vote for the party that lets in those millions of unvaxxed illegal aliens.
Riddle me that.
Record deportations is not equivalent to importing millions. What other stumpers?
The border is a revolving door. Most migrants come here to work for a portion of the year then return to their families in Mexico. They don't want to stay.
I just want to say, I remember when the left adored all thing Kennedy and despised anything remotely associated with Cheney.
RFK changed. He was a force to be reckoned with on environment back late 90s early 2000. Something snapped along the way. Even the Kennedy's don't like him. He's just a kook now with a famous name.
I saw RFK, Jr. give a talk on his work with Riverkeepers and the environmental movement back in early 2000. This was before his spasmodic dysphonia. He sounded a lot like his father but without the NE accent. He basically gave a speech that could have been cut and pasted from Ralph Nader or Bernie Sanders. Everyone thought that he would be the next Al Gore but with an actual personality and stage presence. If you told me back then that RFK, Jr. would become a prominent figure in the Republican party, I would have laughed in your face. As late as 2020, RFK, Jr. was calling Trump's environmental policies a disaster.
Dems wanted RFK, Jr. to take over Hilary Clinton's senate seat when she was elevated to Secretary of State under Obama. But he turned down the job and had previously turned down opportunities to run for office and was considered by Obama to run the EPA.
I think he really snapped during the pandemic. His anti-vaxxer stuff was really just a side hack that started in 2005. The environmental advocacy was still very much the center of his work up until the pandemic. During the pandemic, he dove in head first with the wackiest of the anti-vaxxers and COVID deniers. Since then, he has been shunned in Dem circles and probably switched parties because no Dems would talk to him anymore.

They were there the whole time. People just called them weird or shy kids. There has been no uptick in autism. There's been an uptick in diagnosis.

Cultural psychology literature in the not too distant past often used anti-vaccination tendencies as an example of where a significant portion of left leaning people were out of sync with the mainstream science. That is, basically people who opposed childhood vaccinations were the hippy/granola types. It really wasn't until the pandemic that the right leaning libertarians largely co opted anti-vax sentiment as central to their identity and elevated RFK Jr to heroic warrior status.
As I've said on numerous occasions over the past few years, I'm sympathetic to libertarian free choice arguments provided they are balanced with public health concerns. That is, if you don't want to be vaccinated and that doesn't imply significant risk to others, that's your choice. I also share many people's concerns about the power of "big pharma" and corporate capture of American politics in general. Inevitably though, such people feel the need to rationalize their "free choice" arguments with selective information that mischaracterizes the full body of cost/benefit information. I've looked in detail at the technical arguments of prominent anti-vaxers over the past few years, including stuff coming from RFK Jr, and it's uniformly rubbish.
What I also find odd about the libertarian right's adoption of RFK Jr is that his published platform was well to the left of mainstream Democrats, so his star is really rising on a single point of agreement.

Wow. Some people still clinging to the establishment Covid and jab narratives.

That's incorrect. Those if us born in the 50s never knew any kids with full blown autism.
Now we know plenty of them.
Autism has exploded in my lifetime. Even the authorities admit that. They just claim they have no idea what causes it.
The amount of stupidity on this board is incredible. All you clowns just trust what Trump and RFK sell you. No wonder America is losing. Think for yourselves you sheep.
Posters here keep saying RFK Jr is going to take away vaccines. That is not what RFK Jr is saying.
If you're reading this and don't yet have an opinion, here is a video when RFK Jr was asked about banning specific vaccines and here is his response, starting at 5:25 in this video.
NBC Reporter: "Are there specific vaccines that you would seek to take off the market?"
RFK Jr: oh I'm not going to... I'm not going to take away anybody's vaccines... if vaccines are working for somebody I'm not going to take them away... people ought to have choice and that choice ought to be informed by the best information so I'm going to make sure scientific safety studies and efficacies are out there and people can make individual assessments about whether that product is going to be good for them
Kennedy is clear that he wants to make vaccines an informed choice, not a mandate.
What are his qualifications? Does he have any sort of education background or professional experience in health or medicine?
Because with Trump and his fellow clown supporters, up is down, black is white. This is going to be a 4-year clown car sh!tshow. Let's hope it only lasts 4 years...and by that I mean ONLY that Trump is gone after 4 years. As bad as any of his sycophants would be as a President, NONE of them would be as bad as he is. Insane that our country has election this criminal again.

RFK Jr. was a prominent voice of reason on the subject of medical freedom during the height of Covid vaccine madness. Only a few years ago, Orwellian proposals of mandatory vaccination, draconian taxes on the unvaccinated, quarantine camps and denial of employment were discussed as justifiable policy options. RFK Jr. led the way in saying NO to totalitarianism disguised as public health measures.

I knew plenty of SPED kids growing up. They were not autistic. They were developmentally challenged. Most were good kids and very friendly.
