Another potential issues with surrogacy though is that, despite having the genes, there are environmental and nutritional factors that influence how the baby develops in the womb. Hopefully the surrogate had the best possible nutrition during the 9 month period. The elite running DNA blueprint is there but the in vivo manifestation of that blueprint will always be different between two organisms. In layman's terms, since you can't 100% emulate the same environmental and nutritional factors as Emma Coburn within the surrogate, you will have a slight difference in the manifestation of the in vivo development within the surrogate and within Emma.

This child is a 50/50 mixture of Emma AND JOE--so while yes, the environment, nutrition etc do have an impact--the very fact that the baby is 50% Joe Bosshard is probably playing a bigger role in how this baby turns out in the end and I can absolutely tell you that b/c of that, they won't be an absolute little carbon copy of Emma lol. The kid is going to be 50% doof--and I say that with kindness, love and hope. Joe brings more than just running DNA to the table.

What exactly was your point then? To just see your words on the board CPT Obvious? Because you actually are correct--the same environment that "created" Emma, isn't going to be the same for her kid--but that was a reality with or without a surrogate.
That child is so blessed. She/he not sure where gender is mentioned, will have elite running talent. Expect to hear about them in 12 to 13 years as a middle school standout.

Amazing? What will be "amazing" about them? Seems like a bold prediction. We don't have any reason not to believe they will be competent, attentive and active parents. But - as a parent myself - it will take a lot to amaze me.

This raises the question as to the actual source of the embryo. Was is Emma's egg or the surrogate's? Was it the Bosshard DNA? Probably yes, but the source of the egg is something which may be evident as the child grows up, or she may just look like Joe. But in any event it is none of my business.
