Bolt is probably the most beloved athlete in track history and he was the most dominant
Same with Phelps
Me and Carl Lewis disagree.
Are you serious? No way does Carl Lewis hold a candle to Bolt unless you are living in the past. Same will be true for Bolt someday vs some new guy. Also Lewis was less likeable. Bolt is so cool.
Not a zero-sum proposition. Acknowledging and recognizing Bol’s talent and come up as a young superstar doesn’t mean you cheer against the US or SML. Bol is from a small country that wants to win something, anything. The mixed relay is a good opportunity. The US should put their stars in it but they do not value the opportunity as much and are “deeper” in talent. Bol keeps improving and it’s through hard work and talent. She also happens to be in an event with a generational talent that works just as hard but is hardly seen. Bol’s improvement pushes SML and she will break her WR one more time in the final. Sydney just needs to give people more chances to cheer for her.

As many others said, Femke is more loved for her personality. It wouldn't change nothing if Sydney competed more. And Femke is just as generational as Sydney
Because Sydney is aloof. Some people, like her, just give off a vibe that they think they're better than you (not just a faster runner but better in every way). It's amazing that some guy married her.
Femke, on the other hand, is humble, always smiling, energetic, sparkling light blue eyes, girl-next-door cuteness. Oh, and she runs multiple events and is faster than Sydney.
It's because Syd has willingly chosen to work with a doping coach and praise him while doing so
If anyone at the top level is clean, it's Femke.
If I created a list of the 20 most successful coaches, perhaps only one or two would have no connection in any way to doping. There is absolutely zero proof that Coach Keresse doped himself, or procured, administered, supervised or in any way played a part in doping an athlete he coached. Speculation and even coaching an athlete that tests positive is not always on the coach.
I only root for the US in sports that I know nothing about.
Femke Bol has experienced a transition from being one of the best 400mH runners in the world with her 3rd place finish at the 2020 Olympics, to being a world record holder, world champion, sub-51 400mH runner, and the ONLY person in the world that has a shot at competing with the great Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. I’ll be rooting for her to take the Olympic throne away.
After what Bol did in the mixed relay, winning the GOLD for her team, how can you not cheer for her?!! What a terrific athlete! When you witness something so spectacular, you have to tip you hat regardless of your national allegiance.
As if Sydney hasn't won 4x4 relays on the world stage before, running amazing splits. Stop with the BS
I’m a fan of track and field. Doesn’t matter what country you’re from. I like Bol because she races often and she seems like she loves it. She’s always excited to get out there. Really doesn’t matter what country you’re from to me. People are people.
I wish SML competed more, but Usain Bolt, Michael Johnson, Wayde van Niekerk and David Rudisha did not compete frequently once they reached the top.
Sydney is ALL IN. She HAS TO win Gold. Anything less for her would be an immense failure. All of her other races would be complete irrelevances to this goal, if race preparation wasn't necessary.
We've just seen Medal favourite Caudery go out in the qualifying. She said in interview she felt very relaxed, was really confident. I believe she was too happy and just thought it will happen, but you to have that coldness in you that when the game starts you are in predator mode. Hyper vigilant against failure, obsessed with victory. The 4x4s are an unnecessary distraction, and for the US also rans.
Sydney is a predator. You don't know what it is like TO HAVE TO WIN TO EAT. She does.
Femke is single and acts less like a terminator. I want them to have successive ties down to the thousandth of a second and agree to accept double gold in a shared 49.8 world record in their tie breaker race

Bol is faster than Sydney yet Sydney has the faster PB in every common event
I've been cheering for Sydney for as long as I've been a track fan. This Femke wave is the result of ADHD riddled track fans that want to be different and special for cheering against greatness. The US will start producing more hurdlers that can beat Femke and nobody will care anymore, Femke would be nothing without Syd.
I'm not sure if that's true. I'm just glad the race for first will be competitive again. Love watching Sydney win but it's less interesting when she's gapping the entire field with no threat of an upset. Bol was great in prior years but stuck in a no-man's land behind Sydney and ahead of everyone else. Now she's in striking distance, but Syd is still the obvious favorite. Would love to see them both take a crack at the open 400, that would be another battle for the ages.
