The most heinous thing of all was not having Daft Punk included in the Opening Ceremony. Absolute travesty. Fingers crossed they appear at the Closing.

Opening was the soccer player Zidane getting stuck on the subway with the Olympic torch and then three kids dressed like the Stranger Things characters taking the torch through the catacombs down to the Seine. Just kinda odd.
Now the countries are all on a bunch of boats floating down the Seine.
I'm a bit behind as I watched it on tape - fast forwarding thought at least half of it. But I tried to get my 6-year-old into it and once we turned it on, he was MESMERIZED and dying laughing about the catacombs. He REALLY loved it. My wife was out exercising and walked in and wanted to know what he was so into - I was like I don't know how they knew kids would love it - but that.
I thought it was fun and enjoyed it a lot. It made me think, "Wow the billions spent on the Olympics are special. What else somewhat unites us a humans?"
I didn't watch it as I was at work. I'm not even religious and I find the idea of a drag queen last summer distasteful. Poking fun at the religious beliefs of others isn't cool, mostly atheist nation or not. No other Olympics has gone out of their way to make people feel uncomfortable or slighted. I'd feel the same if they had a drag queen Muhammed. This is going to leave a black mark on these Olympic games and hopefully France isn't allowed to host any international competition for a long time. The Olympics are about coming together not sowing division.
I didn't watch the whole thing, but caught some of it. During the coverage, I also saw a pre-taped video featuring Beyonce. The video featured Lyles and Shacarri and a brief shot of Syd. Any other runners featured?
