Way too early Woodbridge predictions

In a 3k relay race held by Redondo Union, according to Finished results Redondo beat JSerra handily by 20 seconds. Also, Redondo's best runner went 8:53 and their number 2 runner went 9:05. JSerra did have a 9:01, but their next best time was only 9:14. In a head to head matchup, it would have gone: Redondo, JSerra, Redondo, JSerra, Redondo, JSerra, Redondo, Redondo, JSerra, JSerra. With Redondo scoring 24 points and JSerra scoring 31. Now the argument can be made that Redondo had the advantage with the course being at their school and them most likely practicing it. And also the splits were very close. Despite that, this means the teams are very similar in how strong they are. Meaning come Woodbridge, Redondo could be a threat to finish top 10 and maybe even top 5 if they do the Sweepstakes race, unlike last year when they opted for the varsity rated race.

hopefully they decide to jump in, woodbridge invite is a nice substitute for what it is like to race national level competition that isn't nxn. teams that don't make it to nxn at-least got to race woodbridge against some really good teams. plus the out of state teams in this are scary good this year.

Watch out for Hamilton AZ(Mike Scannell's team). They're outstanding. 1600 and 3200 times from track are the best in AZ state history.

They aren't quite at Niwott/AF/Herriman level. Buy they're very good. They could turn heads at Woodbridge and Desert Twighlight. AZ has never seen a team like this.

I couldn't find anywhere on the site how to see which schools are entering multiple teams. Is that not out yet?

Cresenta Valley (very unimpressive 2 mile race against Mira Costa)
Dana Hills (no talent besides Noonan and Hunter)
El Dorado (young team, hasn’t raced yet, but I don’t think they will be good)
Foothill Technology (unimpressive 3rd place finish twice in a row)
Newbury Park (14th at Cool Breeze Invitational)
Millikan (15th at Cool Breeze Invitational

I feel like those selections were made based very much on last fall and what teams were in the sweepstakes the last few years.

This is not good. just because Newbury Park was good doesn’t mean they’re good now. Same thing with Dana Hills

No Elizabeth Leachman even on the most recent list -- anyone know if she's just giving this meet a pass this year, or what? She's been racing within Texas since Aug. 23, so she definitely seems recovered from her spring injury.

Leachman said in an interview a few months ago that she was going to run fewer xc races this fall and skip Woodbridge. She wanted to make sure she was 100% healthy and ready to go for the end of the xc season.

Crescenta Valley will likely not make state this year from the tough section they are in.

Millikan had some guys missing from Cool Breeze, and one of the guys who was varsity last year ran in the JV race at Cool Breeze for some reason. Without a full lineup they might not make state.

Hamilton put 5 guys under 16:04 last race.

kind of sucks but it makes sense since woodbridge is just for fun, and you get to have a feel of what it is like to race national like competion, but at the same time prioritize doesn't always make sense in the long run. I was looking forward to see how the 2024 team would do ever since they had their run in 2023. really great team excited to see how well they do this season.
