Also mostly road with a track finish, right? Either way, Coronado is probably Colorado’s second best boys team and MV is absolutely dominant.
MV girls... Coronado boys.... Right?? I don't think AA raced full force today. But they are down a few due to injuries. I wonder if they can beat Vista head to head full force.
Air Academy was not at full strength. Will see if they run the full squad at Liberty Bell. Not sure if they are dealing with health / injury issues or if they are just limiting how often they race there top athletes due to the length of their season.
Defending Nike Cross Nationals champion Addy Ritzenhein of Niwot CO talks with DyeStat's Keenan Gray about her upcoming junior season, where she will be ranked No. 2 in the DyeStat Early-Season Cross Country Individual Rankin...
Niwot’s boys have absurd depth. 168 speed rating for their 9th runner? But their girls do not look like an NXN team. At least a half dozen Southwest teams are stronger 3-5 right now.

Niwot girls team is missing Beltran who was one of the 3 nonsenior girls who ran at NXN last year

MV Girls are insanely deep. Their JV squad would have finished second in the varsity race based on average time.
Niwot's girls are too high. Lone Peak has been way better this year. Timpview has been stronger, too. And Valor's girls on the watchlist? They finished a distant 8th at Cheyenne Mountain, with speed ratings from 60-84. That's not a SW top-5 team, unless they held out their whole squad from that meet.
The boys top 5 seems decent. But for the watch list both Castle View and Rock Canyon seem to be better than both Mountain Vista and Boulder this year.

In addition, I don’t understand why Lone Peak was 10th on Milesplit national rankings either.

We’ll have a clearer picture of where things stand after Liberty Bell.

No we will not; the picture will still be murky as Liberty Bell is a hack net downhill, hard surface, course that is all about low times and not XC running. It is a glamour race to get a 5K XC PR. That's is it. An unfunny joke.
We will have a better idea how State, NXR/NXN will roll out for Colorado Teams after the St. Vrain Invitational, Pat Patten, and Salida are run. These courses represent the same level of challenge as Norris-Penrose.
Who is even talking about Boulder this year? What did I miss? Even with a couple of notable roster spots missing for the Niwot girls, Lone peak is not better. That said, Niwot boys look like they will probably be 2nd the CMHS at NXR. And AAHS will be first with either MVHS or Niwot girls as an at large to NXN. If Coronado could pull a reliable 5th boy, they could score an at-large to Nat's... maybe.
Weird that Niwot with have the top finisher at State, but probably not the top team.

Huh?? I'm with you that LB isn't a true xc course, but considering the quality of teams attending, it'll definitely give us a better idea of how the top of the state will play out than...Salida

Depends on which classification. None of the top 4a boys teams appear to be going. All but Niwot looks to be going in 5A. But that’s a big absence. Only TCA is going among the top 3A teams. And yes, so far this year *Salida* looks better on the boys side (though TCA appears dominant among the girls). Though I agree that the Salida meet is unlikely to provide any insight into who the top teams are.
1. Rock Canyon - 126 (this may be another team in contention for 4th place at NXR SW but we need to see how they do against Coronado and Utah teams) 2. Valor Christian - 144 Benjamin Anderson won in 14:48
Girls
1. Mountain Vista 73 (all 7 under 18) 2. Air Academy 103 3. Chaparral 106 Ella Hagen 16:54

We’re far enough into the season where I’m confident saying Colorado isn’t getting 2 boys qualifiers this year at NXN. Herriman, AF, Riverton, Viewmont, Mountain View, and Lone Peak all look better than Coronado, Rock Canyon, or Castle View. In today’s environment, your 5th guy needs to be closer to 15:30 at LB than 16 to have a serious chance at top 4 at NXR Southwest.
