Impressive. What will be more impressive is if she can progress for four years. It seems like that program is not known for juniors and seniors that can run at the level they did as underclassmen. The slow down is real. But it will be exciting to see.
She won the middle school race in the same meet in 2022 & 2023. She also has a 6th grade and a 7th grade sister who placed high in this middle school race yesterday
Yes! they train like High schoolers in elementary school.
had to do a double take before realizing the winner was a younger Buckley. out of the gate fast like her sister when she was her age. and Ive heard theres more where that came from. and good to see Lomeli healthy after last season.

That happens kind of everywhere for high school girls. In 2018, Summit won NXN without any seniors. In 2019, they got beat by Saratoga with no Chmiel, juniors, or seniors. And I heard that the Saratoga girls peak as freshmen too.

That is actually true. What happened to Cornett? She used to be one of their top runners and now she was well below the top. That is unfortunate for her.
NXN Girl's Predictions 1. Mountain Vista (CO) 2. J Serra (CA) 3. Ventura (CA) 4. Lone Peak (UT) 5. Buchanan (CA) 6. Air Academy (CO) 7. Niwot (CO) 8. Union Catholic (NJ)
Mountain Vista will take first by a solid margin. The CA schools will battle it out for second and third.
Not counting out Lone Peak for a podium finish. They will be very good this fall with a lot of depth, and they had an extremely impressive showing on the girls side at the Utah State Meet in May.
I am here once again to hype up Lone Peak...despite losing Aagard and Meldrum, I think they will be very, very good. They ran a local 5k this past Saturday and the results were quite impressive. As I said, the depth is remarkable. I don't think they will beat AA or Vista, but a podium finish is certainly possible in 2024.
P.S. might want to check out the boys' results as well... 4 under 16 mins

I think that looks like an unusual day for her. Maybe a tempo? Or coming back from illness/injury? But even with that, she has all of her track PR’s from Frosh year. And another senior track PR’s are from frosh/Soph year. Like the other poster stated maybe this is the norm for big HS programs. I just always think it looks alarming and seems like burnout/overtraining too young, but maybe it is the standard.

That’s why having depth beyond 5 helps the team a lot
Pretty nasty opener, basically tying her PR in her opener and beating Adler by a minute and a half. That's just pure fitness.
With Leachman and Ritzenhein working their way back from injuries, this might be the year that Hedengren wins NXN, after dealing with injuries the past two falls herself.
