I think 25mm is currently WA’s cutoff on the track. But as I said earlier, this race was not planned to go into her WA ranking, if ever challenged for their requirements.
Now I know why women prefer football players and baseball players over track athletes. The fact that a guy actually gets worked up over commentary like that is truly pathetic.
If you’re triggered over these things, you need to seek therapy.
Sack up, bro.
I will explain this to you. I am an old guy who had great support and respect, from little league baseball through college track- because that’s how it is for boys. It was great. I cannot imagine my life without it. The reason that I care about the language we use with girls and women athletes is because it shows them what we think about their participation. Participating in a sport can be such a life enhancing experience. I want all women, like my daughters and the girls and young women I coached, to have full support and encouragement to be, simply, ATHLETES.I want them to never doubt that they ARE the real Longhorns, (or the real Wildcats or Eagles or Devils or whatever), and that they can compete hard without being reminded they are “young ladies”. They are not a junior version of the real thing. They too, are the real thing- hard-working athletes who can get all the physical and social benefits of athletics.
In this case, “sacking up” means to think about how the other half of the population can have full access to this great world that we experienced without a second thought.
I mean she was definitely being an ass-hole for the first 5 miles of that race. Can not believe she rolled her eyes at Roe, who was leading the entire thing, for trying to go around the lapped runners.
Yeah fun personality or not, this is disrespectful to Roe who did most of the work in that race.
I like her, and enjoy watching her run, but I do quite seriously wonder if she isn't a little way on the autism spectrum, at least mildly. Certainly strikes as slightly neurodivergent in some way, as are many accomplished people.
I think the looking to the right and face pulling was at her coach who was telling her to wait, when she just wanted to get on with things.
