Are any of the teams that had their meet cancelled able to get into any other meets?
It's going to be a quiet few weeks for district III if they can't. I don't think Mt. View or Centennial will have a 5k until a month after the season started. That's kind of crazy. I wonder how many kids couldn't race the first race that now don't get to race until either the 14th or the 21st.
Curious if any other teams would be able to get into the Willow lane meet with Boise and Eagle? Maybe they don’t want to deal with it or maybe it’ll be canceled also.
Thats a decent time to go without racing, esp for youngsters who are still figuring things out.

Owyhee and Rocky are doing a 2 mile road race tomorrow at Owyhee. I wonder if that could count for HOKA postal results...
Hopefully the other teams are able to help make that Willow Lane meet even more competitve.
Unfortunately a two mile won’t paint a super clear picture bc I’m guessing there will be a lot of kids that aren’t fully equipped to race it. Road racing shoes will be best for it and not everyone will have those, and I’m sure there are kids that race cross in exclusively track spikes. I would imagine even dragonfly XCs won’t feel great on the road at the end of that. Besides that, it’s likely you see more miler types of runners perform better here than they would a 5k at Eagle Island.
Hopefully Burdick and Johnson have super shoes so we can see how they stack up to the Rocky kids.
So in the meet that ended up being canceled, Cody Lucas was registered in the JV race, and nowhere to be found in this race. Does it mean he is sick or injured?
They were also missing their 4th runner from the last meet

Probably just training through it. I wouldn’t read into that too much.
Just a mix of past cross history, last year's track season, and expectations. Evan Jones losing to Burdick (similar enough track times, but Evan Jones had a crazy trajectory) by a bunch and Jackson Porter (almost 40 seconds slower over 3200m) by a whisker was a suprise, but Burdick losing to Goggins and Tuft in a make up meet on a hot day isn't a huge upset or anything.
I don't think we'll have a clear idea of any team's standing until the Vallivue Scramble, unfortunately. Caldwell is a pretty critical data point.
It’s further down the list, but Borah narrowly lost to Meridian and crushed Capital. If you include just 6A teams, they actually beat Meridian and they have two freshmen as their top 2 and only one senior in their top 6. They might be pretty good next year.
It really feels like it’s Meridian, Owyhee and Borah that appear to be fighting for one spot to state. Rocky, Boise and Mountain View are locks. Timberline, Centennial and Eagle should all make it provided something doesn’t go wrong.
