He was therefore deemed to be a threat to the security of the citizens (under the laws of Kenya). How could a foreign country intervene in this? He was not threatening the lives of people in NZ, but in Kenya. It’s not in any way the business ok Kenya. Kenya should not care how other countries “feel” about AK47s.

It's the same situation as Griner with her stupid f-ing vape cartridges. We can sit around here all day talking about how "ridiculous" it is to potentially go to jail for 10 years over something you can now buy as easily as a can of pringles in like 24 states - but that is completely and utterly irrelevant. If a country says you can't go through customs with vape cartridges containing anything to do with cannabis, saying "oh but I can where I come from isn't a defense. Likewise saying "but everyone has them here" isn't valid either. Maybe if you want to be like everyone else and have "one" despite them being illegal, the last thing you should be doing is trying to force the old "whoops wrong hole" trick on somehow who doesn't want it and end up drawing attention from the police to the point they come and search your house.

Sir, there is no way that Zane will get life in prison. Even if such a sentence is ordered by the Judge, he will get out on appeal with the Higher Court.

In his defense his advocate could argue that Zane possessed a firearm for protection and that registration would have followed in due course. Legit, because true, Zane had reason to fear for his safety.
Perhaps (although no obligation), Julien Wanders, Coach Van den Broek, and other Wazungu residents of ITEN/Eldoret will lend moral and pragmatic support (food, books, etc) during these challenging times. Wanders, Van den Broek et al may not be the best of friends with Zane, but at times, good to step out of the comfort zone.

Please stop spreading misinformation about a country you know next to nothing about. You've never lived in Kenya and going on a short visit as a tourist doesn't make you an expert. Kenyans should thank their lucky stars that it wasn't the French who got their evil colonial claws on them because the country would've become a true basket case in every sense (as is every francophone country on the continent) and all its athletic talent harvested to compete for France.
