Athing and the rest of AW’s peers know damn well who she is. It’s obvious in races, why would Cory McGee go balls to the wall in the last 400m of semifinal at USAs when it was obvious they were way ahead of the field and going to the finals? Make of it what you will but even on social media, her peers follow each other but they will not follow Addy Wiley.
Another thing, she could be having the season of her life this year and she is only as good as that season. What happens if she gets injured, burnt out or frankly puts up poor times next year and still doesn’t have NIL deals or sponsors coming at her? She will have missed out on the most marketable time in her career and be left with nothing but a shady “friend” coach and her sh**ty complicit Huntington community.
I actually feel sorry for AW. Outside of her insular little world, she is not liked. She needs to dissociate herself from the Johnsons and the whole little Huntington world, find a coach that is willing to take her on, and replicate what she is doing now. Her Colorado bridge is burned, more than likely, after she reneged but there has got to be another coach somewhere that would give her a spot on a D1 roster.
Until she does that, she is going to be an outcast in the sport. I am not sure why she won't move on. She is getting horrible advice from somewhere.

The dislike of AW has nothing to do with jealousy about her performances and everything to do with her association with the Johnsons. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I would be an AW fan if she separated herself from the Johnsons. It is hard to be a fan of hers now given that she stands by the Johnsons and is dismissive of the horrible things that NJ has done. He should probably be behind bars and hopefully he will be someday. Additionally, and I also mentioned this, there will always be skepticism about her performances and the legitimacy of them due to her NJ connection. It is entirely realistic and reasonable to be skeptical of her performances and anyone that isn't questioning or skeptical has their head in the sand. It would be great if her performances were legitimate.
For me, AW is akin to the Lance Armstrong story. I really wanted to be a fan of Lance. He nearly dies from cancer and was a huge underdo coming into the sport. However, I knew he had a connection to Michele Ferrari, a physician that ran his doping program. Because of that connection, I never believed the legitimacy of Armstrong's performances. As it turned out I was right and so were many others that doubted him.
Catch-22 for her. She needs to sever from the Johnsons for any hope of a pro contract, but if she leaves the Johnsons, good chance her performances may not be worthy of a pro contract.
I think you're trying to be fair, so that's cool. You say you want to like her, but until she goes someplace else, she's a doper. So, when she goes someplace else, that means the doping somehow magically didn't happen? Explain that to me.
I think once a person is a confirmed doper, then they're never coming back in the sport (to me). But, I am not going to accuse or condemn someone before being VERY sure about it. If someone else thought there was 90% odds someone was a doper, while I thought there was more like a 30-40% chance, that's fine with me. I don't respect it much, however, when someone claims to absolutely know when they don't and writes them off. It's quite possible to have suspicions and yet be supportive at the same time.
As far as requiring that someone act in the way you mandate before accepting them, would you appreciate it if others required the same of you before being neutral on deeming you acceptable? Do you think that others have a solid grasp on every single nuance of your life? Even if they did, wouldn't you still want to be allowed the autonomy to do what you thought was best for you?
That is the argument that has been made for Tuohy. She has an NIL deal but could get injured tomorrow amd then never get a pro contract. She could sign a large long-term contract today. If she gets injured tomorrow, she misses out on upwards of $1M by not making that change and going pro if she gets injured prior to that.
Never said that, but ok. The whole situation is just sad.
Ok - Sure. But, why not hype a young runner doing awesome like you would for anyone else? What exactly is sad about her taking 5th at USA's, running 1:59, winning the Beale St Mile, etc?
Well its kinda sad her "friends" are keeping her from getting an NIL deal or a shoe contract. Also kinda sad that her competitors ignore her after every race.
I do not think she is getting horrible advice at all.
If she tight with the Johnsons and has their back in the face of all this ugliness I give her even more credit.
Can you briefly summarize what the good advice is that she’s getting?
Ever notice that when her supporters are asked questions similar to this, like what is the good advice she's getting, etc, that they just clam up and offer nothing except downvotes? 🤷🏼♂️
