I was surprised to see Hassan purposely slow it down leading into the bell, considering her speed has been dulled by the marathon training. Still think she can win the 10k at worlds but pace has to be cranked from 1k ish to go.
I’d trust her finish over Taye but not Tsegay. Gidey? Feels like a wash. The Kenyans are a bit unproven outside of Margaret Chelimo (not in top form).
Hassan has lost a little off her very top end speed over the last 100 m in these track races it seems, and I’m not sure she can get it back. Cram referenced a minor leg issue for her. It may just be a bridge too far to deal with Kipyegon or Tsegay over 5000 and still want to win in Chicago later this fall. Let’s see….

I guess she thought she would just break Tsegay? Not in a 14:12 race. She was set up to lose that one, pacing Tsegay to the last 200. Hassan went to her classic big arm swing sprint at the end, but her great burst was missing.

He didn’t tighten up at the end badly. That was good to see. Not close to his best start as Izuyima beat him to hurdle 1. Usual start probably sub-13 right there.

Hassan doesn't kick well off a hard pace.
She doesn't have those fast twitch muscles that Kipyegon and Tsegay and Chebet have when she's flat out.
The last time she ran in london she lost to Obiri and Tirop(rip) and PBd again
Yeah that’s fair…Hailu is this years Seyaum. Gotta have her to potentially kick for bronze. You could argue for her inclusion in the 1500 squad but putting her at 5,000 allows them to get everyone in the 15 instead of snubbing Welteji/Haylom et al.
