That's interesting. Most lactate data is see has heart rate or power data attached. Maybe you are seeing them after they have performed lactate profiling?
I'm a hobbyjogger that uses lactate. I correlate lactate to hr and power. It makes nice graphs.
For example, my last test data had these Rsquare:
Power and VO2: 0.95
Power and Lactate: 0.99
Heart rate and Power: 0.99
Heart Rate and VO2: 0.97
