I get that, but not even calculating out their average time at state is just laziness or bad assumptions that because one team beats another their average time must be faster.

What kills me sometimes is that with all their data Milesplit could kick out some really amazing analysis. But they rarely try.

All it would take is one computer science or stats intern who was a runner and an interest in crunching numbers.

If they really think that Rocky Mountain is still best team in Idaho they must have not looked at the state meet results.

Max Cervi-Skinner won this meet as a freshman in 16:34. He ran 16:08 that year and 16:27 on the NXR course.

CDA looks really solid in that opener!

Some Stravas showing 3.01-3.07 for the course, and it was on a sweet looking golf course. Impressive start for an Idaho squad nonetheless.

Carr closed the gap on their 4th pretty well.
Didn’t find Rietze in the varsity race results but I noticed that he won the JV race in 16:50. He should get back on varsity next meet.

Seems like they have a really good freshman class.
Both their varsity and JV perfect scored and the 2-5 CDA guys in the JV race were freshmen. And as we know there already is one who is their #5 on varsity

The one CDA runner I found on Strava has his time as 6 seconds short. That’s about .02 miles at the pace he ran and that would push his distance to 3.07. The vast majority of the runners that show that he ran with have 3.07-3.08. One shows below at 3.05 (CDA runner) and one shows at 3.01. One also shows at 3.09 and 3.10. 5 show at 3.07 or 3.08. That puts the meters at 4939.6 to 4955.7 for the group. 3.01 is probably a watch error.

Its a well known fact that if you run up front, courses are rarely actually 5k. 4940 to 4956 is pretty close. Why did you throw out the one super low number but ignore the two higher ones? To try to discredit the fact that CDA put 5 guys in front of a guy that ran faster on the Firman/NXR course than Rocky’s 2nd fastest returner has run on that course? Running is also about who you beat and CDA’s guys beat some good guys. They put 6 in front of the returning Idaho 3A state champ that ran 15:46 at State last year.

Rocky’s #3 returner Tuft was missing

Is Bogus Basin enough of a tough course that it skews towards runners who can handle that type of terrain better? I see it’s at a ski resort but I have no idea what it is like.

Regardless, great showings by Stadtlander and Boise.

I’ve run up at Bogus a lot and have run on all of these trails. You can’t judge anything from this course. Rocky’s #3 runner not being there doesn’t change Boise beating them. It doesn’t really even change the score.

Course was VERY TOUGH. Athletes were running anywhere from 2-4 minutes slower than their PR's (showing just how much variability there was between runner's ability to handle terrain).

But like was mentioned, Rocky still had a pretty poor showing on the boys side.

For the girls, judging off of that one race, Boise will be really hard to beat.

Rocky got smacked and it looked like some of their top athletes left the mountain with injuries. Course looked fun, but definitely can take a few minutes off kids times depending on the effort the kid gave.

Who got hurt?

I would assume Tuft? He is a sophomore who was their 6th last year

I saw someone say Heemeyer. Is that true? That would be pretty bad if he got hurt.
