Anyone got a good look at Woody's spikes? Couldn't tell if they are prototype dragonflys or just my eyes not being able to tell the shape with the bright colors
Ok, sort of uneventful, but Klecker has a ceiling, and we all see it. I’m going to get a lot of downvotes, but just have to call it. Woody, much more intriguing. Kiplimo, Cheptegei, Barega, not sweating this race. That’s for sure.
Their ceiling is low 27. Later this year Joe will be 27 and Woody will be 31. This is it folks.
Couple notes…Mantz basically matched his PB in the middle of his Boston build. That bodes quite well. Kioko pretty impressive to hold on for 27:22 flying the last lap probably leading 3k at 27:10 pace. Could be a factor at Kenyan Trials for their 10K team.

not saying you're wrong, but if a ceiling is 27 flat and 12:5x 5k then thats pretty damn impressive. After that its just genetics.
Thank you guys. It took me a while to realize. Picked it up at about 6 mins. Slightly disappointing race. Pacers didn't get it done, and then the racers didn't push hard enough in the 6-9K area.
I really feel like Woody and Klecker should be able to get under 27. And I think Mantz and maybe Grijalva can probably get closer.

Yeah, because I can't think of a single athlete that PB'd at 10k at age 30 or later...

Yes, genetics. Klecker is a plodder, one of the best plodders the US has ever produced, but a plodder nonetheless.

Joe’s best event is the 5,000. I’m not sure if that could change long-term, but I think people make some assumptions about him at 10K. Woody looked very comfortable throughout the race.Still prefer him in the 5,000 with less time for changes in pace or lapses in concentration to work against him in a championship field.

If you were smarter you would know that they move up because they have hit a ceiling . So it is quite rare. Our best athletes peak on the track in their 20s.
Wild the announcers didn’t talk about the world’s standard . They barely hit it with a good last lap and it wasn’t mentioned at any point. Honestly felt low quality all around. Surely they can find someone better to call races
