This thread is so exhausting/frustrating, as many on Letsrun are, because people are talking about two different things: Sha'Carri's PB (which is world class) vs. Tuohy's potential (which is huge but obviously, unknown).
Sha'Carri is the 7th fastsest woman ever. She has, for various reasons, a very limited future.
Tuohy is the best college runner but still gets beat by American pros. European and African runners around the world don't know Tuohy. But Tuohy's potential is huge.
And to make it worse, even though we are talking about their athletic abilities, 80% of the posters are focused their personalities.
p.s. We are distance runners, so we identify with Tuohy and admire what she is doing. We are not sprinters (for the most part) on this website, so that explains why we don't care as much about sprinters. That doesn't make anyone a racist. And Sha'Carri, for goodness sake, doesn't represent or reflect "black America." She is s troubled person, but ultimately, just one individual. This isn't about race. It is about Sha'carri, right?
