Okay, there needs to be a rule that none of the moderators should be able to post anonymously. With the way yall can track IPs and what not, this is a no brainer.
Good idea. Also, if a mod posts in a certain thread, they should not be able to delete posts in that thread (to "win" an argument).
Remove any threads, posts that make unfounded accusations of PED use. Possibly ban the person making the threat.
We've always said we will let people make drug accusations or discuss drug issues. We used to receive hate emails for letting people discuss Lance Armstrong.
I guess we really should let people say "I think Lance Armstrong is a doper" . Than "Lance Armstrong is a doper" but with the latter without evidence they are saying "(I think) Lance Armstrong is a doper"
But should we let people in every BTC thread throw in the "dopers" comment? We could tighten it up.

I'm talking about accusations that are unfounded. As in- someone runs fast and the drug talk starts.
We have great discussions going and someone has to hijack it with an accusation of drug use.
In a similar situation on facebook a few years ago a PT that I knew was always spouting off about specific athletes using drugs- to the point where he said EVERYONE uses them.
I know some world class runners personally and I know they don't use them.
I asked him if he would be bothered if I told people that he cheated his way through PT school. I had no proof, I just thought he did and I was going to tell everyone.
He stopped making the accusations.
Discussing the issue is important. Calling out the cheats is important.
Accusing someone who ran fast based on nothing but the anonymity that the message board gives these people should be stopped.
Thank you. Other than that, letsrun is my favorite website. I visit multiple times daily and am very thankful for the news I otherwise wouldn't get.

A certain "M"od involved themselves in a thread and started attacking people who did not support his "decision" on the "only name" that certain T&F equipment can be called. He delete comments saying other names were okay. He then had the audacity to post, "see, most people agree with me," -- after manipulating the thread. I called him out for that. The brojos permanently banned me because I "picking on" a mod.
His offerings may not always be airtight, a column that misses some key facts, an opinion that’s not quite calibrated to reality. However, he is fearless in his predictions and observations. This makes for great entertainment and he carries the PODCAST more often than not.
LESS MODERATION
It's an impossible task to begin with. Also, it's completely subjective according the whims of an each moderator. The RUNNING ONLY option provides a safe space for those who are easily triggered by opposing opinions.
Can we have an intervention for posters who still don't know the past tense of the most important verb on this website, "to run."
I RUN a lot > I RAN a lot when I was in college > I HAVE RUN a lot since turning 40.
This will get downvoted by people who say it doesn't matter. What matters is that we know our own language. Otherwise, we end up like those people in the movie Idiocracy.
p.s. I also want more honest opinions and fewer "pretending to be dumb" posts.
I suspect this is not a unique idea, but a forum for running and training/training philosophy/anything to do with actually running and racing only. No politics, no tmz stuff...
There is a filter to see Running only posts. Takes one click and it will remember your preference
But, troll OPs will pick running related when their their has nothing to do with running. I noted that problem to LRC long ago.

do the mods check to see whether posts tagged as running related are actually running related?
7: Editing your post after a designated time limit to correct errors in proofreading or mental lapse.
Some good suggestions.
#7 will happen this year.
Outstanding. This will end a lot of the posts that simply point out spelling/grammar errors. Admittedly, some of these responses can be pretty funny depending on the error made and how the responder plays it, but most of the time they are unfunny/unoriginal and unnecessary.
4. To point #1, keep the board tidier and more focused. Eliminate multiple threads on the same topic. Only allow threads that have a defined discussion topic and universal interest. They don't all have to be running threads but the board gets too gunked up with stuff like "New Edmonton City Councilor Doesn't Get It!" and "Anyone Else Drinking Alone Tonight?". Much of the anti-social behavior comes from threads that are designed solely for individual attention and that invite flame wars. Politics, social issues, and non-running topics are fine. Just eliminate the arcane personal beefs, attention whoring, and blatant group trolling.
There are some good ideas in your post but what i don't get is if you know a certain thread is designed soley for individual attention and flame wars, why do you read it? There are tons of threads - super popular ones on letsrun - that I've never clicked on as it doesn't interest me.
There is a contagion effect that happens even if you don't click on their posts. Their antics engender a bunch of hate and that hate follows them to other threads. As an example, fictitious poster "GJC" is notorious for attention seeking posts, obvious trolling, or for getting into spats with others on the board. Most ignore him but a handful of posters are ready to do battle whenever he pops up.
It's a summer Thursday night and we are discussing a new 5000 meter WR. "GJC" posts a completely appropriate take about Ingebrigtsen's performance being impressive. The problem happens when the next few dozen posts are along the lines of, "Get a job, loser!" and "Watched Diamond League? Aren't you normally drunk and j**king off to investment shows on Thursday evenings?" or "Eat some more aquarium cleaner and die already!". Now the thread is derailed. It's no longer about a great race being discussed by track fans. It's yet another flame war focused on a poster that routinely sucks all of the oxygen out of the room. The mods cannot get to it fast enough, the insulters are sometimes given timeouts, but "GJC" seemingly never faces any consequences for starting a dozen threads a day that start those fires.
Perhaps only allowing registered users to start threads, a daily limit on how many threads a user can start, and some moderator review or scoring system of users is in order? I want LRC to flourish and to support a variety of both running and non-running topics. Those topics can be controversial and unpopular. Let's get rid of the shameless self-aggrandizing crap as it adds nothing of value and just invites the behavior that gives LRC a bad name.
I want to know the reason why any negative posts about Robbie Andrews and Norris are deleted so quickly but you have no problem with other doping accusation posts on other athletes.
Right on point! Regardless of the thread any time someone criticizes Norris’s races, or “breakthrough “ etc the comments automatically get deleted. It’s a known fact on Let’s run. Obviously something going on behind the scenes. Maybe litigious?? Or can’t stand the heat
