The fix is in against Trump. The same concerted aggressive anti-Trump rhetoric from the past… “GOP prefers DeSantis”, “GOP donors say won’t support Trump”, and “Trump candidates lost” news stories are everywhere. The TDS remains strong... this board proves it. I think TDS has rewired the DNA of American Democrats like an MRNA vaccine.
If Trump is so easy to beat, why all the hostility towards him? Truth is, Democrats are petrified of this guy.
I pity the normal Americans in the middle and on the right.
Democrats win the real vote, Republicans stand a chance in the EC BS.
The "real vote" you're talking about is exactly why the electoral college exists.
The entire disparity in popular vote comes from California and NY alone.
No one in Iowa or Ohio should have to be subjected to the whims of crazy morons in San Francisco and NYC.
There's a reason NY and California are bleeding population.
Democrat policies are GARBAGE.
Good story, but did you look at the 2020 electoral college map? Or the results of 2022? Yes, rural and city interests can be very different. That is why we have local and state governments and the federal has congressional districts and senate. The President is the ONLY nationally elected official and his power is limited.
People are leaving CA because of cost. Cost is high because of plentiful jobs and a pleasant place to live. People doing well stay.
People are moving to places that are cheaper because jobs and desirability are lower. Some can work remotely no at their CA or NY job.
Some might claim political ideology as a reason, but that is a lesser reason than economics.

If you ask the companies and people leaving California and New York they will provide a different reason that you've been told.
California is going to have huge budget deficit for the first time in years. The was announced on the same day that San Francisco announced it was going to start giving transexuals $1800 a month for... being transexual.
In a related story, every homeless person in San Francisco woke up in the wrong body today.
Republicans won the popular vote in the House races in 2022.
The disparity in 2020 came entirely from NY and California.
At least come up with something better when you try to click bait. There's no way he runs as a 3rd party candidate. Republicans are smarter than that. I would love if he did but something Republicans do well is unify around whoever is running -- part of the reason we got Trump in the first place. Trump was a candidate some Republicans didn't like but they voted for him. Dems are much more public with their in-flighting (& I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing) and don't always vote the party line (a bad thing in a 2 party system).
His main policies are: I hate hispanics, I hate teachers, I hate homosexuals. That's just idiotic political positioning.
If DeSantis hates "hispanics" then that group still voted for him by 15% over Crist.
Q: How many gay people moved from "oppressive" Florida to the "freedom" loving -- and rona vax "mandate" city of New York in the last three years? Barely any?
Hispanics like DeSantis and many Dems crossed over to re-elect him.
A Republican buddy of mine didn't think it was a big deal that Trump was running again. "He won't win the nomination as the primary voters will rally around someone else - probably DeSantis - just like the Dems did when it looked like Sanders was going to win."
I told him. I don't think you really get Trump. Dude's ego is too big. He'll never accept a loss. Plus I think it's quite likely he's making money off these campaigns. He'll run as a third party candidate and then it's game, set, match, loss for the GOP.
My buddy was like, "Wow. You're right, i hadn't thought of that."
I think there is almost zero chance Trump wins the nomination - less than 5% but a great than 25% chance he goes 3rd party. What do you think?
Trump is a huge favorite to win the Republican nomination. You have to be crazy to think otherwise. I'm a big De Santis fan but Trump has a massive base that is going to make him very tough to beat. Plus the Democrats are going to take action to try and make him the Republican nominee since the think he will be the easiest Republican to beat, think those Mir A Largo raid prosecution threats are about to go away because Garland is running an honest DOJ or because it was all a charade to keep Trump in the limelight.
Right now I'd say odds should be 60% Trump, 30% De Santis, and 10% anyone else.
If Trump loses I say 20% chance he forms a third party. He definitely could pull a Roosevelt but I don't think he'd want to run as a third party and guarantee a loss. Probably he'll just try to sabotage whoever beats him and encourage his base not to vote for them.
We are done here because you simply can’t speak to the real subversion of Democracy per my long response to you? You left wingers are impotent, ignorant, and incapable of mounting a compelling response other than “January 6!”
Assuming you're correct and M Obama is the nominee, there's no way that I will vote for her. But there's no way I will vote for Trump either.
I asked previously about governors Hogan, DeWine, Hutchinson and also Haley, do they have a chance of being the nominee? I never get answers, just downvotes.
Answers:
* Hogan -- worked so well last time
* DeWine -- any following to speak of?
* Hutchinson -- who?
* Haley -- the only member of Trump's cabinet who wad untouched by scandal, although the NYTimes tried hard with "blinds-gate." Will make a fantastic Veep nod if it isn't DeSantis or Kari Lake
While we are at it, here is a DeSantis campaign ad prior to his election for first term at Governor:

There’s no reason why the vote for President from a citizen in California should weigh less than that from a citizen in Arizona or Wyoming.
There were millions of Republicans in California whose votes for Trump in 2020 made no tangible impact on the outcome of the election. How is this system fair to them?
What’s your argument for not counting all votes for President equally? Every state has their own government to address their own individual needs but the President effects the lives of all Americans.

I think Trump/DeSantis is a possibility. Would be more likely if the GOP weren't so strong in FL. A lot of Electoral College votes there, in any case.
No way it will be Trump/DeSantis. Unless DeSantis morphs into Pence, they won’t even be speaking after just a few days.
I agree. I don’t think DeSantis would agree to be second fiddle to anything going forward.
And any potential running mate that could theoretically appeal to more moderate elements of the electorate is rejected as a reviled RINO by the loudest factions of the GOP.

Three weeks ago, Trump/DeSantis looked like a solid choice. Now, there is a fued between them. If you believe reports in the MSM, which I don't.
Haley is probably a better choice for the reason given in your last sentence.
Before settling on Pence, Trump was urged to select Ohio Governor John Kasich as his 2016 running mate. But Kasich had been critical of Trump, and that was enough for Trump to take a hard pass. Haven't heard DeSantis be critical of Trump, take Trump's veiled criticism of DeSantis ("Ron DeSanctimonious") as a deliberate ploy to play into the feud narrative, and hey: JFK and LBJ hated each other, but still ran on the same ticket.
I could be wrong, but so what? Any guess at this point is exactly that: a guess.

We live in a Republic. That's the reason.
Wyoming has 1 vote in the House. California has 53.
you are not a registered democrat. It’s laughable that you say this.
There's a difference between being a Democrat and registering as a Democrat. If you live in a deep red or deep blue state like Rojo does it makes sense to register with the more popular party. That way you at least have a say in primaries, which are often the only race that's competitive.
A Republican buddy of mine didn't think it was a big deal that Trump was running again. "He won't win the nomination as the primary voters will rally around someone else - probably DeSantis - just like the Dems did when it looked like Sanders was going to win."

We live in a Republic. That's the reason.
Wyoming has 1 vote in the House. California has 53.
The president is powerless without the House.
Take a civics class.
We know how the legislature works, Mr. Popularity.
A vote for President by a citizen in Wyoming is worth more than a vote for President in California, and neither is worth as much as a vote in a battleground state and that is wrong.
Millions of Republican and Democrat votes for President are worthless because they’re in politically lopsided states. Abolishing the Electoral College and moving to direct election of the Presidency by the electorate would mean that the vote by a Republican in Orange County would have as much weight as that of a Democrat in Jackson, Mississippi.
No one is making a case on how that isn’t fair. We have the Constitution to protect the minority of the electorate from a tyranny of the majority.
A Republican buddy of mine didn't think it was a big deal that Trump was running again. "He won't win the nomination as the primary voters will rally around someone else - probably DeSantis - just like the Dems did when it looked like Sanders was going to win."
The difference is Bernie completely got shafted by the clinton machine.... and the voters that would of voted Bernie went to Trump. I am registered Republican and went to a few rallies for each candidate and Bernie was just different. Socialist yes, but harmless in the big picture
Bernie would have demolished Trump because he wasn't argumentative and Trump couldn't argue with someone who wouldn't argue back. And Bernie was a harmless 1 term president. Clinton was poison, and Trump was the antidote to the poison. Anyone other Than Clinton and and Trump wouldn't be a topic.
