Correct. But he was on course just like other fans. None had permission. He spent more time on the course. Your analogy is incorrect. If he is guilty, they have to prosecute the other thousand fans who were on the course.

It's not perverted and creepy, it's just insanely idiotic.
Sounds like a Nick Symmonds or Ashton Kutcher type stunt.
Oh no, it's creepy as all hell.
This guy didn't lose a bet or a fantasy football league. This guy comes across as a loner who needs help. And if you can't see the difference between walking across the course and running in a race, you need help as well. What he did was wrong and could have been a huge issue. If he threw an elbow or spiked a kid there would be ginormous liability issues. If he had won the race, this would be national news.
Some of you are posting as if he tried to rape the first place finisher or that he was wearing a skin mask of someone he mutilated before the race...this isn't "perverted" or "creepy"; it's just stupid...and honestly, I laughed when I read about it, as I'm sure most people with a sense of humor did, too. With that said, he's a moron and should be punished in some way...but let's not make this out to be something worse than it actually is.

LOL, ok, ok, we get it. You got it in for this guy. Chill out a bit with the pervy angle tho please.
It is creepy and pervy! He is a grown man who joined in with children competing in sport by dressing up in his high school uniform to join them.

Maybe he was showing the ridiculousness of men competing against women.
TERRIBLE job by Milesplit USA by giving it coverage…only encourages more losers like this one.
Can’t imagine anyone would want this kind of negative publicity and be labeled a creepy pervert who dresses in his school uniform as a adult to play sport with children in school completion.
I hope he gets a sponsor.

This screams Adidas sponsorship
Yes grown man dressing as a school boy to play with children is sponsorship material.

Sounds more like Michael Jackson, a grown man dressing up as a school boy to go and play sport with teen boys.
Comparing Hebert too Hogue is not quite accurate. Hogue is a recidivist con man incapable of either remorse or reform whose running masquerade was part of a larger, profit-driven criminal enterprise.
Hebert, on the other hand, is a far better runner than Hogue ever was -a sub-4 man, no less- and his stunt was far more disturbing because it indicates, as other posters have noted, his possibly becoming unglued from reality. Hogue enriched himself illicitly from his cons, while all Hebert "gained" from this was widespread ridicule and derision, and notoriety of the wrong kind. I just can't fathom the "why" of this... Hebert wasn't even trying to camouflage his identity -just his school affiliation and age- and no one was falling for it.

sub 4 miler brendan "only sheep run in the pack" hebert goes home devastated at the Texas State XC Championships, loses to Kevin Sanchez by 15 seconds, which is also exact number of years older than Kevin he is. COVID eligibility let some fossils stay in the NCAA but a 23 year old racing high school cross country is unprecedented.
discus.
I guess the guy needs attention. Get it by really accomplishing something, otherwise I will join the local middle school cross country meet and everyone will be talking about me. Loser type.
