Rojo will have a hard time doing a sub 5 hour marathon.
It is not out of the realm of possibility.
Rojo ran a 2:23 at one point and he knows a little about running (or could have JK coach him).
If he could lose the extra 25 or so pounds mentioned in the Outside article, was given a year to train, and could get up to 70 miles a week, I would not bet against him.

1) Rojo is 25–80 pounds overweight. 2) He needs to get out of his own way. —You've been prone to injury since high school but still insist on ramping up from zero to running mileage very hard.
(I sympathize cause I think I have the same compulsive personality and do the same thing again and again and get hurt.)
Stop thinking of your old times for now, find some rehab or physical therapist who can guide you and take it easy to build up some consistent miles. Proceed with caution as if you have the body of a 60-yr-old and then pleasantly surprise yourself. Stay away from super shoes at least till you have a consistent base.
I think you should aim for the Houston half-marathon in January 2025. Make a Let's Run party out of it if you can find ex-military to organize that.
Rojo says Jon Gault doesn’t think he will break 3. I am with Gault on this one. It is not that it is impossible but Rojo is turning 50 next year and I don’t think he has enough motivation. I think he has turned soft and underestimated the challenge here. Is Rojo even training much and where will he attempt this?
And I say I'm going to have sex with Heather Graham this year.

I think it is time for an update. I saw the first 15 minutes of their post Monaco show and Rojo said he had been watching Monaco at the gym where he had gone to run 3 miles as he is going to prepare for the 3 hour marathon. Was he joking about the marathon? I applaud the attempt but he deserves a black page if he breaks 3.

Let’s kick this old bumped thread off with a softball question for Rojo,,,,,Rojo, have you started your sub-3 ‘thon training yet?
