You certainly can run the 40M dash a little under 12 seconds. So can the average human.
To be a sprinter, you must have fast twitch muscle fibres. Without these, you will be a long distance runner. This is scientific fact. Ergo anyone can be a distance runner, but not everyone can be a sprinter.
You are just jealous you are not part of the exclusive run like a cheetah club.
Are you frustrated to hear that anyone can run a short, clown distance? Awww
To be a WWE wrestler you need even more fast twitch muscle. An equally joke of a sport
To be a distance runner you gotta have the perfect muscle combination which sprinters just can't attain. So pathetic to watch a grown man collapse after running 500 meters. Sad. Would they even be called an athlete at that point??
The more short fast twitch muscle fibers the more circus like the "sport" is.
Bodybuilding 99% fast twitch
Weightlifting 95% fast twitch
Sprinting 90% fast twitch
Nice big muscles for showing off but whats the point if you cant run half a mile without dying?
Is this the reason why broadcasting cuts half the distance race to show even more boring adds?
This is the same broadcasting that tries to convince everyone that men can have babies, to celebrate men winning in female sports, etc...so you'd think that would clearly communicate to you what a clown world they live in. But perhaps you align with that?
Sprinting is not even running. They do more gym work than actual running, im dead serious, have many sprinters in my team
Almost any sprinter can be at least a mediocre distance runner if they put their mind to it, whereas most distance runners will never never never be a sprinter. Sprinting is 90% genetics 10% extremely hard work to get yourself over the top. Most distance runners have neither the genetics nor the will and discipline to do what is necessary to be a good sprinter. They’d rather just go for a long run. Which can be physically taxing but is mentally very easy. Every team I’ve ever been on the distance guys complain to no end when they are asked to get in the gym or do speed work or plyometrics, etc. distance runners can be tough, but it’s usually the wrong kind of toughness for being fast.
What is the ACTN3 Gene? The ACTN3 gene is specifically found in fast-twitch (type II) muscle fibers, which are in charge of producing forceful muscle contraction that are especially needed for sprinting and weight-lifting. The gene produces a protein that regulates the function of these fibers.
There is no doubt sprinters are born and not made and most sprinters can also do a lot of other sports, while distance runners can't.
Come on people. Science has ID'd genes for countless conditions by now, so either put up or shut up. If "talent" is genetic, name the genes.
Oh come on. You’re trolling, right? We all know families where pretty much the whole family is athletic out of the gate or all have type 1 muscle. We don’t need to do a scientific analysis to understand that genetics are a huge component of success in sprinting and athletics generally. We all experience this.

Or whatever type fast twitch is.
“Twitch” refers to the contraction, or how quickly and often the muscle moves. Slow-twitch muscle fibers are all about endurance or long-lasting energy. In comparison, fast-twitch muscle fibers give you sudden bursts of energy but get tired quickly.Sep 10, 2020

In actuality any distance runner can be a sprinter. Milers have hit 10.6 seconds. No sprinter has broken 4:00 in the 1500 but many many women can run faster than that. Fact is distance running is 95% genetics and 5% work. No sprinter is made to be an actual runner. They can only flap their arms around for a few seconds then they're gasping for air near death. Sad
Watch all races from the meet here: https://flosports.link/3z64ydQFred Kerley ran a 44.74 400m and didn't appear to be happy with his time at the 2021 World ...

Name an elite miler that has run 10.6 FAT in the 100. I don’t know of any. Maybe 11 low, but 10.6 is a lot faster than you think. Most pro milers you see probably can’t run that far under 12 seconds.
One of the elite 1500 guys that ran around my time ran a 200 once and still didn’t get under 23 FAT. Doubt he would run under 11.5 either. And his kick destroyed entire fields. I don’t have a lot of other points of reference but none of these guys are running 10.6.

I agree. Some individuals seem natural at an early age due to variations in T-levels. Can we trace why some (12 to 15) year olds have naturally higher T-levels, is THAT the gene bro science T&F experts talk about?
Absolutely, i dont lift weights but i do pull ups and pushups once a week. I can do 11 pullups and 30 pushups which shot putters probably cant do. Running i dont need to comment on, as I can run for hour and a half without stopping and a shot putter can run for like what, 5 minutes?
