Bolling should be competing in decathlon or something then, there's no other award for being decent in a bunch of individual events. That said it's fine to root for your white boy, I don't see anything racist in that.
However, the original comment stated some garbage about Knighton not accomplishing anything when everyone should already know what he did in the Olympics
If I were Boling, I would concentrate on the LJ and perhaps the 400M. He would have to concentrate on throws and high jumps for the decathlon and there's no guaranty that he would be any good at any of those other disciplines.
Pretty clever of you telling Boling to focus on events that are not ones that Knighton runs. You are scared of Matt. How about let Matt decide which events he wants to focus on and not you.
You joking right? Knighton broke the U20 WR at 17 running faster than even Bolt. A damn 19.84 - a time Boling has not gotten close to even at his ripe old age of 23. At 17 years old, Knighton made the Olympic team where he placed 4th in the 200M final. Where was Boling again? You people can't be serious. Of course it's racist. What exactly has Boling accomplished? Beyond the hype of you people?
Did you even read his post before you had a breakdown? He said he hadnt done anything major THIS season. Not last season, not the season before. Take a chill pill.
Dude, When did Knighton's season start? How many 200Ms races did Knighton run before this 19.49? Why do you people make deliberate efforts to be stupid?
It may be unusual for a white guy to be fast and to be able to jump, but the uniqueness of such should be kept in perspective given that the times run are mediocre for blacks. Knighton is practically 4 years younger than Boling and almost half a second faster than Boling over 200M.
So Boling is sub this, sub that, sub the next - big deal. Is there a medal or trophy for such? Until there is, kindly gain some perspective and stop the overhyping.
Knighton ran (rounded up) 19.5. Boling ran (wind-adjusted) about 19.79. So the difference is about .2 seconds. That is really close.
Knighton is signed by adidas, so he couldn't join the Coleman group (Nike) anyhow. Unless something has changed he is coached by his club track coach, Jonathan Terry. Here is an interview with him. Really seems to have a great head on his shoulders, similar to Erriyon. No reason to change anything to me with how the two are working together and the support from adidas.
Teen Sprinter Smashes His Own U-20 Record With Fastest 200 Meters Since 2012By Todd Grasley for DyeStatErriyon Knighton, who signed with adidas last year as a 17-year old, showed the world Saturday that he's still getting bet...
But I get your point, and it’s a good one, that at his age every year is a huge development.
Bednarek is very decent, that 19.68 was after rounds...and remember that his clocking needs some confirmation, and may have really been a 19.60, so maybe in the same time zone. MAYBE.
And Kerley, I give him a 19.6 this year, or possibly 19.5. His rise last year was meteoric, he knows how to progress through a season properly, and opened in 19.8. All of that to me suggests 19.5-19.6 at peak.
And Lyles has already gone as fast as Knighton in the 2. It’s too early, based on this single 200m result, to declare Knighton invincible.
But lol one more good time, and you will have to make some room for me on the fanboi wagon😂.
And I totally agree that he should stay away from the ncaa garbage. He should work to further his own interests, not the interests of some coach. For eff’s sake he just finished 4th at the OG at 17, and just became the world-leading 4th-fastest all-time, the only place to go in the ncaa is down. Screw that.
With how he ran that first half, maybe he should go 3rd on the 4x1–that was a MEAN bend he ran. Maybe he could hand off to Kerley at that speed, or maybe Coleman who could accelerate well enough through the zone to enable a smoking handoff.
The possibilities for Knighton are yuuuge👍
All good points.
If he stays fit and healthy and injury free, I think Knighton has the potential given the confidence level at being in the OG and the fearlessness that teenagers tend to have, to destroy 19.19.
Bednarek is a decent 200M, no doubt, I just don't see him running much faster than what he did in Tokyo; perhaps a 19.65. I definitely don't see him going 19.60 and quicker.
Kerley, While extremely versatile, I do not see him going quicker than 19.7. To me he's like Felix. After Felix won her first Worlds' gold in 22.1, she seemed to plateau and only went sub 22 a few times years later.
I don't believe Knighton is invincible: He definitely has to run this time and faster on more occasions to be considered Boltesque. If his next 100M is however sub 9.9 as I think it is, and he continues to improve that, I believe he will be hard to beat at 200M as he's running fearlessly.
Knighton turned pro last year after Trials so he won't be running the NCAA schedule. I would like to see him stay close to home so that he don't get exhausted from jet lag of international travel just a race or two to mix it up with international competition and get sharper and ready for Worlds this year and OG next year.
The relay should be Coleman to Kerley to Knighton to Lyles (if Lyles is running sub 10) if Lyles isn't, then I would go: Bromell/Kerley/Knighton/Coleman.
Knighton's potential and possibility huge indeed. But don't forget Jaylen Slade.
I don't know what Knighton's split was, but I surmise his middle 100 has to be sub 9.8 if not sub 9.7. His body now understands the feel of running fast. I'm excited to see how he continues to develop. I noticed him and Jaylen Slade 3 years ago... It have been a long time coming, but I'm happy at what the young man just did.
Agreed. I hope the best and wish the best for this young man. He and Jaylen Slade will reshape the sprints.
And Boling! Don't forget Matt. The three of them will reshape the sprints. Indeed.
No. I don't see Boling reshaping the sprints not on a global level. He is pretty much at the way at the back of the pack - unless of course you made this comment with tongue fully in cheek.
Eriyon has super shoes, and super fast tracks that usain didnt have as a teenager. So no,hes not as fast as bolt was at that age.
This wasn't a crazy fast track like Eugene or Tokyo, addidas doesn't have the best spikes(although they are definitely a little better than what Bolt had) , and he's .44 sec faster than Bolt's u20 pr. The kid is definitely faster than Bolt at that age.
He wears regular adidas sprint spikes that aren't any higher tech than what Bolt had. Right now the 'super spikes' are worn for distance and mid distance, but New Balance sprinters are the only short sprinters I've seen wearing their brand's super foam spikes for under 400m.
Does anyone know Knighton's split on the 4x4 from Florida relays?
I think these are pretty accurate ... Team Adidas (Gardiner 44.2, Hall 44.6, Knighton 45.1, Holloway 43.8) Florida (Patterson 44.4, Willie 44.5, Miley 46.0, Allison 43.6
