1) She is the most talented figure skater ever. Like Bolt in sprinting. Those who follow figure skating know this.
2) She's currently tested/clean in Olympics, and protected, under 16
3) With the bad timing and being in Bejing she cannot defend herself properly
If she's suspended and then cleared - we have done an irreversible damage to her career, forcing her to miss Olympics
If she's allowed to compete and found guilty later after proper defense - she will lose her medals and get suspended.
It sounds logical that you don't issue a death sentence until the process is over, right?
As a minor she should not have been exposed across the internet unless they decided to ban her. One of the people who leapt to attack her is one Travis Tygart, the head of USADA.
Tygart claims that find two substances in her sample that are NOT banned should be sufficient evidence to ban her. What a jerk. He was going to put one substance on his watch list and decided it wasn't worthy. Now he thinks it is worthy of a ban for an athlete who is a minor.
Tygart has lost his mind. He wants to ban people for using non-banned substances. Tygart is a clown. What he really wants to move the Silver medal U.S. team into the Gold position. The U.S. can prosecute Russian athletes, he now cries ... 10 years in jail and a $250,000 fine for a 15 year old for not testing positive during competition. And for using non-banned stuff.
The athlete cheated. And the country responsible for reporting the positive sat on the information. I get feeling bad for the kid involved, but she has the go. Her handlers and coaches all have to go. Anything other than that is garbage. Every athlete and team affected should sue. Russian athletes should be banned. If the few clean athletes want to keep competing, move to another country. Russian athleticsis incredibly crooked.

Again, for all those foaming at the mouth, there will still be a formal adjudication, and most likely an appeal of that adjusication.
She is being permitted to compete, but she may very well end up retroactively banned, and be stripped of any medal she may receive.
Everything is up in the air. The question was, given the totality of the circumstances, should she be permitted to compete in this competition, while awaiting adjudication on the merits. This question was answered “yes” by Russia, and that decision was affirmed by a duly-convened panel of the CAS, applying Swiss law by agreement of all involved parties.
Time will tell both if she receives any medal, and if she is allowed to keep it.

That's right. I don't understand how NBC commentators and the rest of the skating world is so upset. Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir completely destroyed their credibility yesterday. They're supposed to be journalists. I don't ever remember sports commentary as far biased and hateful as that.
Makes me wonder if they were explicitly told to do so. There's lots of anti-Russian rhetoric these days and the freedom in the press in the USA is the weakest it's been since at least the 1950's.

USADA head Travis T. Tygart is also attacking this underage female. He wants to sue her and put her in jail for 10 years and fine her $250,000 because she has two none-WADA substances in her sample... neither worthy of a ban, but 1+1+1 = MEGA BAN!
Shame on all of them. Their obvious/transparent objective is to lift the U.S. Silver team to a Gold.
Time will tell both if she receives any medal, and if she is allowed to keep it.
The USA has a 1904 Marathon Gold medal won by a doper who took Strychnine and drank alcohol during the run, AND he had two guys holding him up and walking him forward DURING the run. He still has his medal. In 2014 a Chinese swimmer received a ban for the same drug. Three months. He not only kept his 2012 two Olympic golds and also won a gold in 2016.
USADA head Travis T. Tygart is also attacking this underage female.
It just seems like too much vitriol by too many people for this to be occurring naturally. Especially since the target is a 15 year old female. There must be a conspiracy theory in here somewhere.

Stop being a clown. She's competing at the olympic games, the height of sport. What makes her competing at 15 so amazing is that she is doing so WITHOUT ASSISTANCE, or at least we thought. She is up against the best adults in the sport right now and beating them. How cool. She shouldn't get extra help just because she's 15.
As to what Sprintgeezer said, my issue is that it robs medalists of what should be the greatest moment of their lives: getting a medal on the podium in front of the world and hearing their anthem play. The deserving athletes aren't getting that. And that's not cool.

If you prevent Kamila from competing and she's innocent, then you rob her of the chance to stand on the podium. So, the same logic cuts both ways.
If it's such a big deal, they can easily add another medal ceremony at the next Olympics.

Yes that is true and absolutely not cool, but it is only one factor to be considered.
Consider that on the other hand, a possibly innocent Valieva could be robbed of the same. After all, we don’t know many relevant specifics.
Personally my biases have me ready to condemn and ban Tutberidze and all her minions, for life. Apparently she is a menace, leaving a trail of destruction.
But ultimately, hopefully unbiased panels will adjudicate these matters, and we are left to wait and see what will happen.
One thing for sure, is that one way or another, this sucks. And rightly or wrongly, I personally blame the coaching and training staff.
The biggest sports cheat in the history of the world, Lance Armstrong, never received anywhere near the level of scorn that's being dumped on this 15-year old girl. Something is very wrong here.
Katarina Witt has just re-iterated everything I have said. She must read LR!😁
I also found out that the IOC will not hold a medal ceremony if Valieva gets a podium spot. That’s incredible, and might be actionable because it amounts to nothing less than a sanction before adjudication. I feel like offering my services to represent her, and the other 2 podium spots, in a suit against the IOC. The other 2 podium winners would effectively be punished for having done nothing!
I wonder if they will conduct a ceremony at such future time as Valieva may be cleared, if ever.

People are trying to get her gold revoked to upgrade the U.S. team's silver medal.

People can be such petty a-holes.
The IOC is therefore overruling CAS. This is all about changing medal positions.
