Real Data: Face masks dramatically reduce COVID transmission

Pretty much everyone can get vax and booster and vax + boost keeps you out of the hospital. Why would I wear a mask because someone isn’t willing to get vaccinated? There are no lines at the vaccine clinics. That’s their issue not mine. The left wants to paint people into boxes but you can be pro vax and anti mask. Life has inherent risk of death and we all choose our level of risk with our life decisions. I can’t believe people still smoke but they do. Also everyone will get omicron so trying to suppress it is fruitless task.

TLDR: Masks are horrible to wear and dehumanizing, get a vax and move on or don’t but that’s your choice and your risk.

I'm amazed at the things that we call 'science' and what studies qualify for funding. It is more surprising that somebody thought it would be an interesting thing to study. We should perhaps also regress a century or two and study whether hand-washing helps prevent spread of infectious disease. That's top-notch 'science.'

More to the point: This 'study' doesn't actual indicate that masks work (even though we already know they do; and N95 work even better). It does not adequately control for reasonable confounders (such as the question of whether zealous mask-wearer also engage in other good health habits and have higher basic health education in general; many other confounders etc.).

Well as Twain said there's "Lies, damned lies, and statistics." People who start with their answer and then jam everything they can find into it looking backwards can make any chart look convincing.

You're not looking at raw data. You're looking at data that was tweaked to show you what they wanted you to see.

Did COVID cause deaths to increase? Absolutely. But, as with all things COVID the hysteria far exceeds the actual threat.

Deaths from overdoses skyrocketed over 30% from 2019 to 2020 and went up again in 2021. These are deaths in excess of what's expected. Homicide deaths... suicides... All manner of deaths increased dramatically from the pre-covid years to 2020.

Throw in the fact that the CDC has no good way to distinguish between deaths where COVID-19 was a contributory cause from those where COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death and the numbers are even more inflated.

If a person didn't have morbid obesity and advanced type 2 diabetes COVID wouldn't have killed them. Yet COVID will be listed as the underlying cause and it will be counted a COVID death. It seems to me that they have that very much backwards.

Hmmm.....both the Roman and Greek scientists knew the earth was round and the earth revolved around the sun. Yet in the middle ages, all the nation states believed the earth was flat and the sun revolved around the earth. It seems that we are back to the middle ages with Covid. As a virologist no successful vaccines for the common cold because it has animal hosts and the virus can hide in them and mutate to survive. The only 100% effective vaccine in for smallpox because it has no animal hosts and can only infect humans. The whole idea is to grab power and limit liberty so they can have one vote, one time and never again.

Are you completely obviously to the fact that the excess deaths tracked up and down nearly EXACTLY week by week with reported covid deaths? Your explanation is that overdose deaths, homicides,, suicides tracked increased EXACTLY week by week in the EXACT pattern of COVID deaths? Really? Have you ever listened to what you are saying?

Let's look at the numbers for your explanation for these excess deaths that mysteriously started happening when Covid showed up:

2020:

Suicides: down ~3,000

Murders: up ~5,000

Overdose deaths increased: ~20,000. (April 2020 to April 2021)

So.....your big three-factor explanation for the huge increase in deaths actually only accounted for 18,000 extra deaths ....or about 4% of the total increase of ~500,000.

Perhaps they actually have the data, but reading the link above and their report in The Conversation, it's pretty much a take their word for it kind of conclusion. There is not information at all at where the numbers came from, what the methodology was, or where the empirical data they refer to came from.

You seriously have nothing to worry about. With the endless amounts of data deciphered over this virus, not one scientist or mathematician could honestly say that an active runner is at all at risk. Risk for runners simply doesn’t exist. Probably 100 million active runners Worldwide and even the most fervent believers are hard pressed to find one who has had serious issues with Covid.

Any reasonably intelligent person looking at the evidence and the timing and number of deaths already realizes that COVID is by FAR the most reasonable and likely explanation. The explanations you gave were already shown to fall ludicrously short....and that doesn't even begin to address the excess deaths tracked covid in lock step, week by week. Did your reasons do that? The burden is on you to show evidence of any other reasonable and fact-based explanation. So far you've utterly failed. The tin foil hatters have had 2 years to solve the mystery and they've all failed. Is it because they are wrong? Or just too stupid to formulate and back up their opinion with real evidence and data? both?

Using facts and data, give us a better explanation for the timing and number of excess deaths than Covid.

To sum it up, Covid attacks the weak, the way it was designed. If you have several serious comorbidities , then Covid can deliver a fatal blow. If not, there is little concern. Stress is a bigger concern than Covid.

Falls right in line with those who believe this was man made to thin out the population, whether in China or Globally.

You readily admit that the number is 5% off from homicide and OD's alone.

You can literally track ice cream sales and shark attacks in "lock step week by week" every year. That's correlation not causation.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky just said the other day, "The overwhelming number of deaths, over 75%, occurred in people who had at least four comorbidities. So really, these are people who were unwell to begin with..."

The CDC gets their numbers from death certificates. Death certificates are subjective depending on the opinion of the physician who fills them out. They make mistakes... there was a dude who died in a motorcycle accident in Orange County Florida and was called a COVID death. They found and corrected that one. How many have they missed?

The CDC couldn't have handled COVID worse if they tried. You can believe everything they say and just pivot with them when they change their mind every other day but I'll hold out for better data.

What I do trust is actual real data, indisputable data. The largest sample size in the world (unlike these tiny studies). Before Omicron England scrapped their mask mandate, Scotland did not. Guess which of the two countries had the highest percentage of covid cases during this time?
