LOok at ROjos notes on page 6. It was obvious from 1600 out that Gidey was done.

only if she is a mother
I’ve never seen so many elite athletes so wrecked. Hassan is in extremis. Let’s face it, she’s not just the best, but the bravest of all time. Certainly this is the greatest set of distance performances in Olympic history. Not just the medals, but enduring horrendous conditions to get it done.

yes. people don't give her enough credit. everybody always talks about how the epo guys and gals don't look fatigued at teh end of races.
well take a look at her.
damn near takes herself to AlSal territory. Looks like death.
sisson ran 31:03 at trials and ran about that today
shows you how tough the world is compared to the US
Saladbar is sitting home very proud right now!
Has anyone else been going with the international broadcast on NBCOlympics.com? Better than NBCs broadcast IMO

Does Gezahegne have a finish, she looks good right now! She has 29:50....cred....
She certainly does! Almost held Hassan that last 100. Gidey imploded after looking supreme.
Lapped runners interfered with the result; crooked Schweizer with that group clogging up the track up the front straightaway … at that point the race was adulterated.

just to finish the thought, she probably thought 31 flat was about what she could do today so she ran her own race, hoping the leaders would come back to her
which would explain why she never contested for a medal, droppping back at the first move.

+1
I'm kinda liking this Indian javelin thrower.

And grew up on a farm.

Niyonsaba in 5th, absolute legend.
Indeed. Running hard against women while culturally appropriating a hairstyle truly brings something very special to womens' running.

Most D1 men are faster than her.

The nbcolympics stream is the ONLY way I’ve watched track. It has been a fantastic 9 days to be a track fan!

I much prefer that broadcast

Was just thinking that. Her run at the trials was outstanding and she basically repeated it today in just as tough conditions and finished 10th. What can you do against that kind of talent?
