I assume Cheriyut does the strategy he employed in the circuit. He goes out hard in the beginning for about 700-800 then checks to see how close everyone else is. If he had a gap he would push harder. If runners were still close to him Cheruiyot would relax and settle back into the pack, preparing for the final 400.

We should thank Centro for winning in Rio in a time that is closer to a 4:10 mile than it is to a 4:00 mile. This hopefully will be the end of these chicken dung sit and kick races. I've got a feeling the rest of the world is saying 'we're not going to lose to some inferior runner by running the only race he can run'.
Take away that fluke Rio win and Centro has won nothing since 2013 and I'm including that watered down indoor World title in 2016 (in yet another shameful sit and kick race).

You have a short memory. In 2016 one of the biggest knocks against Galen was his 2:06 PR (compared to the 2:03-2:04 PRs of the East Africans). Quite similar to people knocking Centro for his 3:30/3:49 PRs. But Galen showed up and won the bronze medal in a race including the GOAT and several other fantastic marathoners. Centro had the perfect race and won the gold against some of the fastest men in history. While nothing is guaranteed, there is no real reason to think either of them are incapable of medaling or even winning it all this year.

Winning a US title is like winning a Triple A batting championship. Americans overrate their runners so badly it's laughable.
